If there is no GOD, then man and the universe are doomed. Like prisoners condemned to death, we await our unavoidable execution. There is no GOD, and there is no immortality! And what is the consequence of this? It means that life itself is absurd. It means that the life we have is without ultimate significance, value, or purpose.

Altijdgoede: What should be our posts and threads than?
Like this:1.  " Oh yaar i met a chawk keti"
               2. "Yaar Prachanda le ke garchha hola?"
               3.  "Euta keti ko khojima?"

No offense taken. I would like to ask you andUji: the same questions i asked my friends in Sajha:

Can there be meaning in Life without God?
If there is no GOD, then man and the universe are doomed. Like prisoners condemned to death, we await our unavoidable execution. There is no GOD, and there is no immortality! No one has refuted my original statement. People like madtech have just come and tried to take this blog some where. Let me repeat this again, we are not debating "Which religion anyone should follow?" We are debating does God exists?

If you going to say he does not than what are your refutations. It is a dialogue between those who have a diety and who does not. I hope myself clear.

Nepaliguy what is the meaning in life for a fly, an ant, a mosquito, a cat, a dog?

Or do you think only human's are special and they need to have a meaning in life.

I am just trying to understand your philosophy.

Rethink: All the creation have purpose. All the creation except human being and Jinns worship the Creator. Human beings and Jinns have free will. We have choice either to obey Him or disobey Him. This free will comes with a price. Either paradise or hell.

Our main purpose of our life is to identify our creator and worship Him alone. God says in Qur'an, He created human beings and Jinns to worship Him.Before human beings were created. Angels were already there to worship Him 24/7. Angels do not have free will.

God created us and gave us free will. We have capacity to be better than angels or also degrade ourselves to be worst than animals too. So choice is all ours.

Prophet Muhmmad (upon whom be peace) also said: A woman will enter paradise because she gave water to a thirsty dog and a woman will enter hellfire because she locked her cat and did not let it go and get food and she did not provided the food for the cat either and eventually the cat died.

The animals will not go through heaven and hell but there will justice for them also:
"On the Resurrection Day, the rights will be paid to those to whom they are due so much so that a hornless sheep will be retaliated for by punishing the horned sheep which broke its horns". [Muslim]

Let me get this straight. Our purpose in life is to worship god. God created us so we can worship him. And if we do not worship him, he will punish us. Am I right so far?

so ,your god is a gangster who punishes you for not following him??i think prachande is far more better than your allah;the ultimate thought-police(i ll punish you for what u ve thought).
why is the muslim god(allah) such a misogynist, homophobic ,genocidial man who is  insecure ,jealous ,greedy and vane??
why does he always say no other god if he is sure that there is just one god?is he himself unsure that he is the only one??
when a guy hallucinates and is upto slit the throat of his son(or see a flame talking), we call him in modern medicine a psyschophreniac/ maniac ,and u ppl  a prophet of god??
why is it that u ppl dont believe in the cumulative knowledge of the brightest of mankind for the last 3000 yrs as explained in sceince books and still believe in the stoneage book of one of the most primitive folks that has lived upon the face of the earth??
DUDE U DIDNT ANSWER MY PREVIOUS QUESTIONS ;SO TRY TO ANSWER THESE ALONG WITH THE OTHERS AND PLZ PLZ NO COPY-PASTE :USE YOUR BAIN
THERE ARE MORE PHYSICAL EVIDENCE FOR THE EXISTENCE OF ALIENS (OR EVEN SPAGHETTI-MONSTER) THAN A GOD AS MENTIONED IN YOUR STONE AGE BOOK:
THE DAY WHEN A MUSLIM WOULD BE ABLE TO CRITICISE MUHAMMAD AND THAT UNHOLY BOOK; YOU COULD DARE TO DEBATE WITH EASTERN SPIRITUAL TRADITIONS:KAHAN RAJA BHOJ ,KAHAN GANGU TELI :)

Shiva: your questions were already answered on the other thread i think.

Glordano: I understand you are follower of science. More knowledge of science only made me believer in God. Things are created so beautifully. I know in science you say big-bang. Where did that big-bang come from?

Here are your answers:

Shiva brother: May peace be with you!

Thank you for taking time to raise questions. Appreciate your time. Sorry for the delay in answering it.

1)what do u say about the way that mohamad dude handled a 6 yrs old aiesha after marrying her?

My grand-mother married my grand father when she was 9 and it was not 1400 hundred years ago :). Back in those days, that was the culture. That was the culture of the Arabs. Muhammad did not even went ahead and make the purposal although Aiesha (May God be pleased with her) was his best friend's daughter. Abu Bakr (May God be pleased with him) brought that purposal. It was God's way of protecting prophet Muhammad's sayings. She became the second highest number of hadiths (prophet's sayings) after Abu Hurairah (May God be pleased with him).

It was God's plan i would say. She also was one of the biggest scholars of Islam.

2)what do u say abt the way mohamad raped the wife of his adopted son?

Well he did not rape her. He married his adopted son's wife after his adopted son divorced here to teach his followers that adopted son and real son are not the same.

The reason prophet Muhammad (upon whom be peace) did what he did is to teach his followers what to do when his followers needs guidance. He is our role model. He married a divorced woman, so we can marry a divorced woman too . He married a widow to show us that we can marry a widow too. So on and so forth....

39how were the 3 tribes of medina decieved to truce and then killed one by one after entering the city?explain?

Well that was war. Actually Jews of the Medina entered in a treaty and betrayed prophet Muhammad (upon whom be peace).
Later they helped Meccan pagans to fight against prophet Muhammad.
A guy from one of the tribes converted to Islam and he wanted to join Army of prophet Muhammad (upon whom be peace). Although Muslims were losing that time, he did not care. He was soldier of God. He was a kind of person who was trusted by the Jews, Pagans and also his tribe.

Prophet told him, if he wants he may break their coalition and he did.

Banu Qurayza, a Jewish tribe in Medina was involved in the treason and they surrendered to prophet Muhammad's army. Banu Qurayza requested Saad bin Muaad (May God be pleased with him) to be their judge to rule their case and as he was their friend before he accepted Islam.

Saad bin Muaad (May God be pleased with him) ruled their case. It was Saad bin Muaad's decision as he was leader of one of the tribes and he was hurt on that war.

4)if all religions are the same and worship the same god ,why du u stone peoples to death (even today) for changing the faith?

I would say revive the religion of your ancestors (Santana Dharma) by stopping the idol worship and accepting the teachings of the final messenger (upon whom be peace).

5)why do u always insist on telling koran the final word of god though it was written at the time of uthman ,one of the khalifs after muhamads death??

Uthman (May God be pleased with him) compiled the Qur'an. He was friend of prophet Muhammad (upon whom be peace). He and other friends of Muhammad sat together after prophet's death and compiled the book. The Qur'an literally means the recitation and the book is called Musab.

6)why did muhamad put the phrase 'and muhamad is his last messenger' in the kalmaah? dont you smell the thirst for authority and some foul game?if there could be many before him ,why not after him?

He did not put that himself. God put that for him. He did not even know he was a prophet till he was 40 years old.

7)what was the status of dhimmis(christians and jews ) in muslim lands till now if they wordhip the same god?u guys stole the whole philosophy and story from the and they are forbidden to build new churches, ride on horses, bear arms and lots more rules.

Actually no country on earth practices Islam fully. Not even Saudi Arabia. Muslims should let people of other faith practice thier religion. There is no force in the religion of Islam.

8)why is it so that a religion which u say preaches peace always talks of kiling the others?ß what is the option for a non.muslim according to your pliagiarism book of yours?death or coversion right??

No brother. Actually Islam did not spread because of sword as potrayed by Crusades. It spread by invitation. The friends of prophet Muhammad (upon whom be peace) left after his death as they knew the value of this religion. Most of them were idol worshippers and they wanted to share their experience with other human beings and spread the message of Islam to humanity. For an example, in China they went as merchants. The people were impressed by the scaling system they had, contrary to other Chinese business man. The Chinese business man went to king and complained that the foreigners were taking their business.
The king called the Muslims and asked them to leave. But public stood up and said "these Muslims do not cheat us with scales and give us the right weight whereas our fellow Chinese business man cheat us."
So the king had no option but to let them stay.
By good actions of Muslims actually Islam spread on all the corners of the globe. During the time of Saladin, many people in Jerusalem accepted Islam was Saladin ordered not to kill them and let them practice their religion. On the other hand, Crusades killed all the Muslim when they first captured Jerusalem.

9)why do you worship the kaaba, the prophet, the book ali, husein(the shias)?well u dont use abeer and tika but adoring and respecting someone to insanity and total devotion is actually worshipping ,right? so you are polythiests too!!!

We do not worship Kaaba. People who perform Hajj or Umrah circumbent Kaaba. The reason why the pilgrims do that is because prophet Muhammad (upon whom be peace) did that. It's just revival of his sunnah (actions).

10)i am a hindu, i eat bef, dont wear my janai, give a sht abt jaat bhat, have slept with various women(including a turkish muslim girl;yupp she is unmarried ;u would love to stone her to death right?? ),i ve been to mandirs and worshipped stone figures only as a continuation of the tradition and i still feel i am a hindu , becoz its the law of karma and 'basudaiva kutumbakam' that makes me a hindu.can you choose stuffs that are rational and throw stuffs that are crazy from you gods own words as i do??

I was born in a Hindu family too and i used to eat beef too as i never thought cow was divine to begin with :).

Well i am not a big fan of stoning woman to death. As i believe God forgives all the sin except shirk (associating others in His worship).

I understand you do not want to leave Hinduism because you were born in Hindu family. Well i understand that as we have the same background. It's very hard for us to convert as our family thinks we betrayed them if we convert to Islam while they are happy if we convert to Christianity. The reason is on the back of our mind we think whatever a White man does is wonderful but we think Arabs or Muslims are bad. It's not your fault or mine. We have been raised like that.
This is what Hollywood and Bollywood or the consumer society has manipulated us. Anti-Muslim begots are everywhere. Noone mentions Hindu extremists, or Christian extremists but everyone brings extremism with Islam. There are good Muslims and bad Muslims. I condemn terrorism of any act too. It's very sad to see my faith being highjacked by few wolves. I do not know if those wolves exist for real or they are just mere characters created by certain department to control people.
Back in Nepal, we used to be proud that we were never ruled by British or any super power on earth but now our youth are very happy to server British Military, Singapore Police or Indian Army or where ever UN deploys them.

May God guide all of us. Ameen !!!

Thank you!

your brother in humanity

rethink: Would love to hear your feedbacks.

Scientists tell us that the universe is expanding, and the galaxies are growing farther and farther apart. As it does so, it grows colder and colder as its energy is used up. Eventually all the stars will burn out, and all matter will collapse into dead stars and black holes. There will be no light; there will be no heat; there will be no life; only the corpses of dead stars and galaxies, ever expanding into the endless darkness and the cold recesses of space—a universe in ruins.

This is not science fiction: This is really going to happen, unless God intervenes. Not only is the life of each individual person doomed; the entire human race and the whole edifice and accomplishment of human civilization is doomed. Like prisoners condemned to death, we await our unavoidable execution. There is no escape. There is no hope.

And what is the consequence of this? It means that life itself becomes absurd. It means that the life we do have is without ultimate significance, value, or purpose. Let’s look at each of these.

Without God there would be:

1. No Ultimate meaning of Life: If each individual person passes out of existence when he dies, then what ultimate meaning can be given to his life? Does it really matter in the end whether he ever existed at all? Sure, his life may be important relative to certain other events, but what’s the ultimate significance of any of those events? If everything is doomed to destruction, then what does it matter that you influenced anything? Ultimately it makes no difference.

Mankind is thus no more significant than a swarm of mosquitoes or a barnyard of pigs, for their end is all the same. The same blind cosmic process that coughed them up in the first place will eventually swallow them all again. The contributions of the scientist to the advance of human knowledge, the researches of the doctor to alleviate pain and suffering, the efforts of the diplomat to secure peace in the world, the sacrifices of good people everywhere to better the lot of the human race—all these come to nothing. This is the horror of modern man: Because he ends in nothing, he is nothing.

2. No Ultimate Value: If life ends at the grave, then it makes no ultimate difference whether you live as a Stalin or as a Mother Teresa. Since your destiny is ultimately unrelated to your behavior, you may as well just live as you please. As the Russian writer Fyodor Dostoyevsky put it: “If there is no immortality … then all things are permitted.”

3. No Ultimate purpose: If death stands with open arms at the end of life’s trail, then what is the goal of life? Is it all for nothing? Is there no reason for life? And what of the universe? Is it utterly pointless? If its destiny is a cold grave in the recesses of outer space, the answer must be, yes—it is pointless. There is no goal, no purpose for the universe. The litter of a dead universe will just go on expanding and expanding—forever. And what of man? Is there no purpose at all for the human race? Or will it simply peter out someday, lost in the oblivion of an indifferent universe? The English writer H. G. Wells foresaw such a prospect. In his novel The Time Machine, Wells’ time traveler journeys far into the future to discover the destiny of man. All he finds is a dead earth, except for a few lichens and moss, orbiting a gigantic red sun. The only sounds are the rush of the wind and the gentle ripple of the sea. “Beyond these lifeless sounds,” writes Wells, “the world was silent. Silent? It would be hard to convey the stillness of it. All the sounds of man, the bleating of sheep, the cries of birds, the hum of insects, the stir that makes the background of our lives—all that was over.” And so Wells’ time traveler returned.

Without God there would be:

First of all, whose God, your God or my God? The God that I worship is different and says things completely different then what you say. My God says live life as you wish and let me handle what happens in the future. He commands me that it is not my job to ponder. And he also says he will look after me if I enjoy life. He says I can do whatever I want and he will still be there for me no matter what.

So I am a little confused brother, Whose God are you specifically talking about? Or are you implying that your God is greater than my God? Please enlighten!  I have my eyes wide open and would love to hear your opinion on this matter.

Just remember, I love my God just as much as you do. Please go on.

THEORANJEBOY:
First please tell me what your God says so i may understand what you believe. This original posting "Can there be meaning with God?" was actually between a person who believe in God and who don't. I actually wanted to have a discussion between who have a diety on one side and who do not have a diety on another side. Anyways it's okay.

Since you asked me whose God. I believe there is only one God.

Actually Hindu scripture says: "Ekam evadvitiyam" which means: "He is One only without a second." [Chandogya Upanishad 6:2:1]

As you quoted: "My God says live life as you wish and let me handle what happens in the future. He commands me that it is not my job to ponder. And he also says he will look after me if I enjoy life. He says I can do whatever I want and he will still be there for me no matter what."

I never said my God is better or greater than yours. Qur'an does not let me do that. After all there is only one God.

"And insult not those whom they (non-muslims) worship besides Allah, lest they insult Allah wrongfully without knowledge. Thus We have made fair-seeming to each people its own doings; then to their Lord is their return and He shall then inform them of all that they used to do." [Al-Qur'an 6:108]

Glordano: We are talking about grand-father time. Well if you have grand parents or great grand parents still alive ask them when they got married. The truth might suprise you.

I can't help but laugh when people literally take books written by nomads, farmers, sheep herders, and stoneage people seriously. I feel very sorry for those gullible people.
If there were any evidence that those books were written by people who knew anything about science and the universe (besides the conspiracy theorists who believe in aliens), I would be darned.
Grow up you guys. Do you know they didn't know that fire was a chemical reaction until the 18th century and they believed that it was a devine thing.
Stupid people will always believe in stupid things whether it's some religious books or whether it's some political propaganda. It's a hinderance to progress and insult to all the scientists and intellectual people who put their lives on the line to prove otherwise.
BTW I'm not against spirituality or god. I just don't happen to believe in the ancient books written by nomads and cow herders.

Science = Respect, Progress!!
Religion = War, Regress !!

Think for yourself. Discover something new. Make the world a better place.  Don't hold on to stoneage dogmas.

See this and marvel.

Fountaindew:
Do you happen to know why all the prophets of God were sheepherders? If you grew up in farm you would know Sheepherding needs the most patience. The reason why all of them were sheepherders is because it needs high patience and to teach people what God had revealed to them needs alot of patience too.
That was boot camp or training cycle those chosen individuals had to go through.
I understand you are neutral. May your spiritual journey towards the truth be a pleasant one!

I just wanted to share this message to you:

James A. Michener, ‘Islam: The Misunderstood Religion’ in Reader’s Digest (American Edition), May 1955, pp. 68-70:

“Muhammad, the inspired man who founded Islam, was born about A.D. 570 into an Arabian tribe that worshipped idols. Orphaned at birth, he was always particularly solicitous of the poor and needy, the widow and the orphan, the slave and the downtrodden. At twenty he was already a successful businessman, and soon became director of camel caravans for a wealthy widow. When he reached twenty-five, his employer, recognizing his merit, proposed marriage. Even though she was fifteen years older, he married her, and as long as she lived, remained a devoted husband.

“Like almost every major prophet before him, Muhammad fought shy of serving as the transmitter of God’s word, sensing his own inadequacy. But the angel commanded ‘Read’. So far as we know, Muhammad was unable to read or write, but he began to dictate those inspired words which would soon revolutionize a large segment of the earth: “There is one God.”

“In all things Muhammad was profoundly practical. When his beloved son Ibrahim died, an eclipse occurred, and rumors of God’s personal condolence quickly arose. Whereupon Muhammad is said to have announced, ‘An eclipse is a phenomenon of nature. It is foolish to attribute such things to the death or birth of a human-being.’

“At Muhammad’s own death an attempt was made to deify him, but the man who was to become his administrative successor killed the hysteria with one of the noblest speeches in religious history: ‘If there are any among you who worshipped Muhammad, he is dead. But if it is God you worshipped, He lives forever.’”
