we have had this thread here couple of times and its always interesting to read all your opinions.  I have to say that I still think about going back from time to time.  I think I am quite settled and done ok for my age.  I have also been blessed in many ways.

Uranus, Grgdai and Stupida have very valid points without being emotionally charged.  The reason we are here is because we like it here, we dont have to worry about our basic necessities and as long as you are willing to move your hands you will never die hungry or sick in this country.  I admire this country for every single thing there is but sometimes I feel my sense of belonging is still attached wtih Nepal for eg.  when sometimes tastes good " oh this tastes like nepali khasi ko jhool"  "ooh this alu aachr is just like the one from patan"  etc and etc.

Given the right opportunity and right money would I move to Nepal --- yes -- after I liquidate my stuff here.  Would I move to just because I am a nepali --- may be (may be) in the next 30 yr..do I miss nepal?  Yes I miss nepal and neplese that was 11 yrs ago...I miss dasain with kite flying, listen to bhajans at night, lakhay dances, rath pulling, oh man I miss the festivities with frens and family.  I miss taking trips to different regions in Nepal and being treated with so much love...I can go on and on......but that was all 11 yrs ago....

I went to Nepal last year, i was the only one who spoke Nepali among the youngs there, I was the only one who was wearing nepali shoe, I was the only one who wanted to be with family at night.....or day for that matter.  Dont let party nepal and fb fog your decision.

Muchofiesta, I know what you mean when you say you miss the Nepal from 11 yrs ago.

I left Nepal in early 90's and I miss the Nepal that I remember from back then. Thesedays when I go to Nepal, it's not the same Nepal that I miss. People were different back then, thesedays people living in Nepal have had no choice but to accept Nepal as it changed and move on. I find even my friends changed with the times and their values are a lot different than the values I remembered back then. I have gone with the flow in the US and have settled down a bit, but I do miss a lot of things about nepal like great friendship, great times roaming around Ktm, the air felt cleaner and fresh, people were friendlier, life was more peaceful, you could walk around way past midnight and there was no feeling of insecurity, people had a lot of time in their hands and were generally happier than now.
