I have no resentment on DV winners, they are lucky people bcoz they get advantage from the broken US immigration system. If Nepalis wouldn’t win DV, some other nationalities could get that DV visa. I have request to them to go to college and improve their career. We, coming to US for study, can’t even apply for financial aid, so we have to suffer a huge financial burden and interrruption the college for processing to get G-card, but DV people get Aid easily to complete their study. In addition, they get job easily wherever they like to work. Waiting for 5 yrs to depend on your spouse is a bad trend, I have noticed that 99% DV winners are looking doctor or nurse in Nepal, that thinking is not absolutely right, try to be independent rather than being dependent on others.... it does not only help better self- earning, but also help your career to improve. Moreover, even you married doctor or nurse, you will have no regret feeling if you have own career from US college, and your partner also feels good once you matches perfectly in career wise.

Exactly bagbhalu, DV winners have so much advantage over a normal F-1 student. With a bit of effort they can get far better jobs than a F1 student(like us) who can only work afford to work illegally(for desi's). And they have a bigger chance to get white collar job than us(after graduation), because the employer does not have to go through the headache of the H-1B sponsor process. And yeah, i know a lot of these people who have made full use of the edge that they have over f-1 students.

Most of the DV winners I met are khate. I also worked in an Indian restaurant when I was in school. Indians used to say" Yeh to Gand me hara patta rakh ke aya hai." They think they are superior than F1 students. They work all day eating crap Indian food for free, living with all those feet stinking Indian Punjabis in a Apartment crammed with employees and restaurant grocery supplies. They dont even spend single penny. Their expenses, as I have seen 1. Phone card. 2. Churot ko batta. (for smokers). 3. 3 quarters for laundry.(only drying...they wash on bath tub) When they first meet their first question will be.....Ohhh ohh Sathi..ma Falano...You say your name ..and they will ask your last name, after that Ghar kaha ho ni.. after that they will ask your fathers name, occupation etc,,,etc... I am sick and tired of these Khate Nepali Jerks.

brownsugar,, i appretiate you writing " not applicable to all the DV holders" in the end..Iif you have a green card you have a better chance of getting six figures jobs if you finish ur studies!! easily.. just like that.. and if some green card holders,, dont study,, plan to spend the rest of their lives smoking, drinking and working at a desi store and you being intimidated by that is not worth it, even if they boast. i think its useless.. For me having a green card is getting a good job,, benefits.. and not have to pay the thousands of dollars in tuition .. as international students have to,, and there are lots of DV holders i know who really work hard both in school and at work.. and i really feel for you guys because i know its so much more work.. and i think the feeling should be neutral.. having a green card in this country is a blessing and if some people want to misuse it then.. let it be their problem

Keeping our tradition in someway is better. Stop saying : khate nepali jerk:. you assshole put your finger inside your ass and see how big is your ass than criticize other's asss.

I felt compelled to spit my opinions after going through some intriguing replies! First off, we all know that DV isn't an ordinary lottery! For some, Green Card means an opportunity to stay in the U.S. as long as he wants and he doesn't need to return back home but for many like myself, the benefits of the GreenCard are pretty immense which unfortunately not too many GC holders realize/utilize! A GC holder is eligible for financial aids/loans! S/he doesn't need to worry about joining Grad School and even the employers don't need to worry about sponsorship and also the hassles related to a F-1 Student Visa Holder getting H-1 Visa are eliminated! Well that's the way that I view at it! I wish ( and I'm sure many of us do ) that I had received the G.C. too so that I'd apply for Loans and stuffs to focus mainly on my schooling without being forced to work during my school life as much as I'm normally required to! But lets be fair in here! How many D.V. winners are really fortunate enough to come from a good family with a good financial abilities?! Ever wondered on the amount of loans that they take off banks and friends and families to come to the U.S. Do "they" have the luxury of thinking about attending school?! The answer is pretty simple-No. Like say..a guy from a village of Gorkha who'd been staying in Kathmandu for 4-5 years won the lottery! How'd he be able to come to the U.S.? By taking loans! Then once he gets to the U.S. would he be compelled to work his arse off to pay back the loans or would he bother to go to school!?!?! Surely, he'd have loved to go to school as well! I'm darn sure that MOST of the DV winners living in the U.S. know the value of a college education in stead of working in the deshis' stores but lets be realistic! They opt to work coz they can't afford to go to school because of the responsibilities towards their parents! Isn't that so?! As for this thread itself, I can understand your frustration w/ some DV winners bro! But I disagree with your statement on calling them Khates! MOST of the DV winners come from unstable financial backgrounds and hence they're compelled to work their arse off to support their families back home and while the people coming off financially good background might think that the DV winners should utilize the G.C. in a better way, I feel that they don't bother to do much because their hands are tied due to their responsibilities! Who wouldn't love to go to school and work part time in stead of working for over 80 hrs a week?! In the end, I urge you all to be sensitive before making these sorts of comments! It's all about the financial background bros! I'm sure that the DV winners might be hurt by these sorts of nonsense threads! I'd have perhaps been ok with the thread had you tried to mean "While most of the DV winners are ok, some act like jerks and khates"..but you saying most of them are khates is total bullshit!

At least people who get DV don't do fake marry with innocent American girls and play with their lives for the sake of GreenCard.
