If some Nepali people in the border would use couple of hundred gallon water to irrigate their fields, it would be criminal act for Indian Government and Nepalese current government silently supported that.

Well,NC ruled most of 15 years after panchayat. What could have been the possible probability outcome being corrupt if we just think statistically? :-)

NC ruled most of the 15 years of the post Panchayat era, so they should take the major responsibility of the failure or success during this period.

Success: People had more access to the government, people's rights Growth in infratructure, communication etc.

Failure: The access to the government was not enough. The growth was not enough. A long term visionary plan was always missing. Not offereing enough to the people, the Maoist staged war against the establishtment and everyone knows what happened.

Corruption: Rampant corruption, from top-down was never contained, or even tried. Girija always finding ways to defend corrupt leaders, made it look like corruption was OK for everyone in power. However, measures were taken, but not enough was done.

Opposition: UML, main the opposition party during this era should take responsibility as well. They were not very effective opposition party. Rather than always playing the game of trying to get to the government, and take opposition to the streets (ra railing vachne politics), they should have had their patience and held on. But didn't happen, so they share some of the responsibility as well.

But NC has to take the major blame. It did produce corrupt leaders like Khum Bdr, Govinda R. Joshi, Chiranjivi Wagle, Sujata etc. There are much more NC leaders who are genuine than these thugs, but these were people who enjoyed the power and worked against the aspiration of the people, so it is obvious for a layman to blame NC party as a whole of being corrupt. If at least few names were off the list in the last NC internal election, people would have thought otherwise.

Yes, they are the most corrupt that why they keep getting elected every time an election is held. How do they do it? Oh yeah, they use muscle power - that's got to be it. Raw muscle power that will make the Maoists and others run for the hills. Well then it must be money power. Now that's got to be it. That's why the get so excited whenever an election is announced. Their leaders may be a hundred and fifty years old but my god they run around the country campaigning like their feet are on fire.

I have very little sympathy for corrupt people - regardless of their political affiliation. For all I care hang corrupt Kangressis upside down from the rafters in a kal kotri. And include the corrupt royalists, communists and Maoists too.

Thank god we have an election - don't like them, don't vote for them.

My vote is still up for grabs. One person who I would love to hear out : Candidate Gyanendra (if we were fortunate enough to see such a thing).

But yes, the Congress cannot run away from its record and it has a load of explaining to do. Like it or not, they are still the favorites at this time to beat the Maoists.
