nepali students who work illegally (in gas stations etc) have made us all shameless.....Last night, I saw a nepali student working in a gas station. Upon being asked, he said he was making money for his tuitions and six pack corona everyday. I was like dyam......

i urge all people in sajha who work in gas station to support me for people working in gas station.

gas station ma kaam gardai ma koi sano hudaina. i have support for people working in gas station. ta chor jasto hami kahire ko jutho bhada majhdainau cafeteria ma.ma gas station ma kaam garera community college ma padera pani 3.5 GPA lyarera university ma transfer scholarship ma padhdai chhu. i work 50 hrs in a week. ta chor 20 ghanta kaam garera GPA ani college tier ko kura na gar.

I think I am mis-understood. Vincentbodegaji, I do mind my own business. I expressed what I felt. I am not trying to demean people who work in gas stations. Work is worship. I am just talking about students who work illegally. Looks like there are tons of illegal student worker in Sajha. Why feel offended by something which is true....Nepal has good enough institutions for UG degrees. Why go for a difficult and risky option ?

The way you speak, I can tell you that I have seen more of the this place and have a little more claim to this place than you. So, when you see an illegal worker next time, you should thank him perhaps because its her hard work and sacrifice that lets us live a life of comfort.

Agree with you partly... I have seen students who, if they were in nepal, could easily afford for education of substance are doing nothing more than working in gas station, studying for status maintainance.

BUT, your unconditional blame on all student working in gas station is completely baseless. I salute those students who are working their heart out to STUDY. About ten tier and bla bla, lat time i checked american education system i didnt find any schools opened for STUDENT WORKING PART TIME IN GAS STATION, the schools that american governemnt think is good for its citizens is by no means unsuitable for NEPALI Student.

Soktim bro, you are claiming to have done nothing illegal, so it has to be either you are talented enough to get full scholasship or your parents must be paying for you. For your infirmation, there are many nepalese parents who cant afford to pay their kid tuition bill in american college
AND, american citizen seem to support the student who work to pay for their tutition as compared to american kids who end up with thousands of dollar as loan.

two or three responses apart, all we can see here is venom people are spitting for the comment I made on reality, which bites. I am here not to categorize people based upon what they work for living. If it's legal, sure you have full right to work off-campus in gas stations. There is nothing to be ashamed of. As I told, I myself work in my campus cafeteria, 20 hours a week. Yes, 20! No less and no more either.

I happen to be an above-average student, if not cream, and I work my ass off to get good grades, which is close to 4.0 at the moment. I am here not to blow my trumpet but am genuinely concerned about what a student, who works for infinite hours in a gas station, gets as a a leftover to study? I know it's a hard life, mine is no exception either but at least I have more time than those illegal students, yet I am having hard time. I am wondering how an average student, who works illegally, is helping himself to get quality(?) education.

All I am saying is, Nepal is not all that bad for education, if students are serious enough for studies. Why do they have to come to US to work illegally to support their education? You can come here for grad studies or if possible and you are good enough, you are always welcome to come as a H1-B worker.

As far as Avinash's case is concerned, I am deeply saddened by his incident. As a fellow Nepalese, I feel sorry for his tragic end, but more so for his family, friends and relatives who have to lose him coz of a stupid act like racing with another car, which he commited to bring his end.
