। --------------------------------------------------------------------- Yes I'll definitely go back to Nepal both to visit(or stay) and to invest... after I save something to invest there...

Well, its not that if you go back you gonna starve. You can enjoy more power and luxury back in home. But there are drawbacks. Buerocracy and nepotism rules in a job. While the business world it too dirty. You gotta throw bones from polticans to maoist and from bankers to government officers. Thats the harsh reality. In US there is till bureocracy and nepotism but without your minimum skills to perform a job these are useless. However, your success is very hard to bring the power and luxury, you can enjoy in Nepal. Also, you are 8th or 9th rated citizens. Cause my opinion is 1st class - White Amreican folks 2nd class - Black American folks 3rd class - latin AMreican folks 4th - other amreicans 5th - chinese and indians ( sterotyped to be brainy) 6th - other balcks 7th - other latins 8 th - finally economic salves like us peace out

life is not only about money. specially when u r here..this tip is for New Yorker. hey dude it looks like u r rt for a moment..but thinking to some level. what about the "GYAN" u have achived and the hardworking u have learned..its not just about spending money and making double or triple or so on out of it.. thats call a business..n for me life is not business.. how many people u have seen around u that have money , still looking for that inner satisfaction and real happineess. .. i was in nepal last year for dasahie and tihar..i left my work my study..guess waht i would have earn thousand of dollars in that period and i spend money as hell in nepal.. but believe me that momnet will never come back to me again...the life w/ ur lovelyones is very beautiful..u know what even a a cup of tea w/ ur family taste a thousand dollars drink. and over here that $3 starbucks coffee sucks like hell...anyway ... i wish u very happy american life..and i will defenitely enjoy my nepal and my nepali...JAI NEPAL

One of the main reasons to go back is my family. We come from a holistic society and very often brag about our family values here in the west. However, while we talk big about how much we care and love our family, we just go back to our lonely apartment, commute to work and back everyday, worry about shifting to a better paying job, and talk to our parents once a week or sometimes more, sometimes less. For an outsider or a westerner, our claim about our family values just seems contradictory to our life style. I have very often met Nepalese who come from a well off family back in Nepal, living the same kind of life in US we hate, and yet dread to go back. Through my observations during my many years here in US and after meeting people from all walks of life, I have come to a bitter conclusion that, we come from a society that gives higher importance to money, career, social-status (pride), than to simple things in life like family and happiness. May be that is why it is very hard to find a person who wants to go back home just because he/she feels happy to be with his/her family while his family members would rather see him stay here and get that six figure salary job or that hefty bonus or finish that dissertation. After all, life is short and we should all enjoy it while we can; being with and doing things that make us happy is one way.

Here are my thoughts on why some like to go back and why dont and stay in US Reasons to stay in US - Good job or good savings: There are many who have good paying jobs but lack the savings on the other hand there are many who have low paying jobs but save a lot. - No immediate family or kin in Nepal - Education: Many Nepalese come to US for education and are stuck here once they get a job. Many cannot complete their education for many reasons, economic being the major one and are stuck and cannot go back to share their failure. - Immigration status: Many are illegal and cannot come back to US once they leave the country so they end up staying here and remember the hardship they faced to get the visa to come here. - Spousal disagreement: Some cannot go back because both couple cannot agree on going back - Kids are settled here and want to stay close to them. Reasons to go back to Nepal - Love of the birthplace: Many miss their homeland so much and their heart longs to go back and want to make some positive contributions to the society. - Ailing parents - Raising kids: Nepalese who have gone aboard have found that raising kids in Nepal (Kathmandu) is better than raising them in US primarily because who grow up here lack the cultural values. - Touch life: many are tired of living doing 15-20 hour day jobs - Education: Primary education is better in Nepal than in US (good for kids) - Social reasons: all the relatives, friends and family are back home. Since man is a social animal and it longs the social influence back home. - Opportunities: some see there are opportunities in Nepal more than in US and some go back and make their own niche. I have talked to some Nepalis who have claimed there are more opportunities in Nepal than here for them. Feel free to add more. -Shiv (PS pardon me fellas I am from Kathamndu and when I say Nepal I am refering to Kathamndu most of the time.) :-)

Here is my practical calculation: 4 years of schooling = at least 15,000 Let's say you found a job as an engeneer. pay after tax = 5000 house = 280,000 2 cars = 20000 ( reasonable cars) 280K + 20 K = 300000/3000 savings every month = 100 years?? haha forget about the tution expenses.. lol now , don't forget the intangible investment ie: 4 years of hard work. * menal jobs * seperation from friends and family * pinched to have accent * low treatment' * the list goes on Plus, don't forget there something can't be bought everything there is credit cards.. lol.... when are you going to be free? NEVER NEVER NEVER lol hahahahah and i see ppl bragging about thier citizenship and greencards... well CONGRATUPHUKINGLATIONS homies.. have fun

Pretty Interesting thread.. everything boils down to a balance between heart and head. I bet ya there aren’t any people here who don’t wanna go back to Nepal. Everyone does and rightly so one is born in that country and you got everything there (that is thinking from the heart).. but some succumb to the decision of the head - - want to make a better life for themselves and their loved ones and are outside Nepal. Both are absolutely right. Now speaking of a personal choice I would like to see my services rendered in a country I was born in and see it expand than to serve for the development of some other one.
