The idea that Nepali women are indulging in premarital sex is pretty foreign to most of us Nepalis born and raised in Nepal. I'm not trying to act weird, but the very idea that Nepali women have sex is weird to me--yes, even married ones.
Now, I believe in choice. It's up to individuals to decide what they want to do with their lives. Some few examples:
1. Gun control--people's choice whether they would like to own guns or not. The government should not impose gun-control laws.
2. Abortion--once again, people's choice. The government should not impose their social views on public
3. Eugenics--once again, people's choice
4. Premarital sex--people's choice. I don't adhere to the narrow-minded views promulgated by religious zealots.
5. Gay marriage--if gay marriages wanna marry, it's their choice. None of my concern what people do with their lives.

In essence, I am a libertarian, and I believe in freedom and liberty.

So you all can express yourselves as freely as you want. I won't complain. Au contraire, I would in fact appreciate it!

Of course it is not only good but excellent to be virgin before marriage. However, you should understand well what virginity is for. I always stand for doing things out of wisdom insdead of doing arbitrarily or just out of blind belief. My postings are always tiresomely long, they are for those who have quest. Sex is a sensual pleasure comes from the touch of the sensative parts of the body, just like the pleasure you get from seeing something beautiful, listening to somethings pleasent, eating something delicious, smelling something sweet. These all are called contact pleasures. Pleasures come from the contact of eye-scene, nose-smell, ear-sound, toung-flavor, body-touch. These five sense organs when touch their respective pleasent objects, they give you pleasent feeling.

Mind is very strange sixth sensual organ, which is involved in all of these five, and it can do something extra too, that is, it can recall all five contacts and generate same type of feelings.

Biologically, some biochemical reaction takes place inside your body due to the contacts and you like the product of the reaction. I believe there are some biologists in Sajha, they can tell you about the bio-chemical reaction and the product of it.

The important point is you like the pleasent feeling due to the contact of sense organs to their respective objects. You long for the pleasure and you are always in hunt for them. Do some self examination. Think of these questions. Why do you want to see beautiful places or people? Whay do you want to listen to nice song? Why do you go to your favorite restaurent? Why do you want to use perfume? Why do you want to put on warm cloths in winter? Why do you want to remember the wonderful day you have with someone?

The answer of all of these is: FOR PLEASURE.

hey virginkt, i haven't read all of the stuff above in detail, but i just wanted to throw in a couple of my own thoughts on the matter.

1. a lot of guys end up losing their virginity just for the heck of losing their virginity. why? simply because it's not considered cool among guys to remain a virgin. now, the first experience may mean nothing to some so it does not matter either way. and for some it may cast an indelible impression. these ppl wish they had saved themselves when they finally meet the love of their lives.

2. i have a feeling that it has already started to be uncool amongst nepali girls to remain virgin. the first experience for women is probably more significant than it is for guys. but i feel that it's doing it simply for losing is a pity, IMO. *for some*, it may be like opeing the floodgates. once you are no longer a virgin, you think to yourself, "well since the i've done it once already, i might as well go all the way with as many people as possible. what difference does it make anyway." i'm not saying this is bad or good. i'm just saying that as a woman, you probably want the experience to mean something special. and good things are sometimes worth waiting for. i think that for guys the experience is more mechanical and less emotional. at least from what i've seen.

3. when we are constantly bombarded with subtle and blatantly patent messages about sex everywhere, it is important to really think for yourself what you want. listen to diverse opinions, but to think for yourself. not everyone is alike, and the ppl make different decisions that suit their values and points of view...anyway good luck.

My suggestion to you virgin keti is that if you have decided to refrain from sex so that some day you would find true love then you might be disappointed. kina bhane true love cannot be engineered. But, if remaining a virgin boosts your self confidence in some direct or indirect way and if you think that is important then you should maintain your resolution.

Along with five senses and 'man', mind, consciousness and soul are supposed to be other means of perception. I don't know the exact distinction between these three but depending upon your level of awareness of the 'paramatma' or your progress in the realization of 'paramatma' perception through a particular mean is supposed to be dominant. For example, an animal's perception is dominated by the five senses and perhaps the 'man'. An enlightened being is said to perceive through the soul itself. So, the point is that don't get carried away by the philosophy of pleasure. Think what is important for YOU - the feeling of relegation that may remain after sex with a stranger or the momentary pleasure that you will have during the activity.

Yes, it's good to remain a virgin....more bad than good can come out of it.
