Sorry if there has already been a post about NBA postseasn '05. If not, here we go again. The playoffs have eliminated the pretenders so far, the contenders are doing excellent and it again seems like the big fishes are going to battle it out. Heat vs Miami Look at Shaq!! The guy is hardly Shaq anymore. Nevertheless his prescence has been catalyst to Heat's success. I think the captain of the boat is Wade here...Shaq is putting up mediocre numbers compared to his greatness...however, he is still effective to some sort..The role players are doing well...and seems like their bench is solid enough to hold anyone. But now the question should arise, if the '04 Lakers struggled so much against the Pistons than how would this '05 Heat do against them....Remember on the paper..'04 Lakers are much better than this Heat..we will have to see...Pistons will be a real challenge.. Wizards are exciting and if they can play that uptempo game..then maybe who knows...they might win few games...but thats highly unlikely cuz Heat swept them 4-0 in the regular season... Heat 4-1 Sonics and Spurs For the last 6 years, if there has been one team that has been so consistent than it would be Spurs..these guys always look like the champs and maybe who knows this year would be it...By far this is the most exciting Spurs I have seen in long time...They look good. Spurs 4-2 Dallas and Suns Two best friends meet to collide while the evil emperor watches ....The abttle is on.. One has speed, atheltisim and energy as weapon and the other...as entourage of proven veterans..this series will likely go to game 7...and for both teams there is so much to lose..Dallas...had to play to its potential to be here..and Suns..anything less than a championship would question the style of basketball....Nash is the key...and for Dallas it is Nowiztiki...and if Nowiztiki can't push his scoring then there is no way they are keeping up with Suns.. Suns 4-3 Pacers and Pistons The team is dismantled..the samurai is hurt and can't do nothing..His last try to become the master looks bleak then suddenly..he comes back..and takes the team to the playoff...each game is hard fought and now they meet their old nemesis...Pistons!!..Pistons are the heavy favs but I wouldn't count Pacers out..cant afford to do that..WOuldnt it be feel good stroy if Pacers somehow win ..NBA championship...but thats a long shot....wait..Pacers making the postseason was long shot too.. Pacers 4-3 ( Being optimistic here)

Alicia Your dream is getting shape. Pistons and Spurs in the final. Personally, I like the Spurs but they may not have enough strength to become the champions. Any way, it would have been a very boring final if Heat and Spurs played..no arial shows.

"Personally, I like the Spurs but they may not have enough strength to become the champions." >> I think, like anybody else, Spurs are better team this year than previous years when they had won two championships. Tim Duncan got healthier, even if he was feeble by the end of season. Manu and Ginnobli are both defensive players, while Parker can perform his agility to score. Nonetheless, Parker must be consistent throughout the series. All of their bench players are good. This is going to be very interesting match up for NBA final after many years. In the past few year (before Chicago Bulls), whoever won from West was the champion. But, things have changed since last year. Both of these teams are very good defensive teams and both of these teams know what it takes to be a champion. I will support Spurs... Go Spurs.. go Duncan... for the third Champianship...:)

Rusty It will be interesting indeed and the time difference should not hinder sleeps for us at east coast. Ginobli definitely stepped up and it would be a nice treat for him with the Olympics title and NBA title. Parker needs to be more consistent which will depend on Piston's player who whould guard him. I guess Rip will do that and Ginobli will be guarded by albatrus Prince. Parkers floaters may not be that effective with defensive system of Detroit. Big Ben will be after Duncan. I do regard Tim Duncan for his soberness and experience of the ball game. Lets see. I am for Detroit, not that I like any particular player. They have been very successful in putting up games even at the verge of elimination and that big mouthed Rashid Wallece's words have been proving right time after time. Like I wrote before Posted on 05-25-05 8:46 AM Reply | Notify Admin "How come no one is talking about the Basketball? Looks like Spurs going to sweep the Western conference. Even though the Suns have the potential to win, they could not yet deliver at the end. Detroit is going to be in the finals beating Miami. Miami getting away with lots of fouls. Both, Spurs and Detroit, teams with great chemistry."

It's been quite some time since i last posted anything. let me have a go. well spurs have convincingly filtered out of the western conference and have been waiting for their eastern counterparts and now in their way stands only Detroit Pistons who came out victorious yesterday in game 7 against miami.I didn't expect Pistons but it's gonna be heck of a defence showdown from both these teams. No matter what the series is gonna be like, i 'm sure Duncan with Ginobliiiii and Parker will be lifting that trophy when everything is said and done. Many times has it been said that defence wins championship which is true from last years nba season and other prior seasons but along with defence u need that offence too which San Antonio proudly boasts of. San Antonio a very versatile team, and many times have i repeated a "complete team" will face some tough tasks coz the penetration won't be easy but with ginobli's skills and duncan's presence everything will be simplified. Ginobli's aggression to the ring has been incredible. I would say even more than Parker, Ginobli is the guy that has to be playing well which is not a doubt from his side. No need to mention about Duncan,The Fundamental, the smartest of the 3 threat-posing big men(shaq andkg ) is going to deliver night in and night out when he's on the court. Horry as always during crunch playoff time has been delivering with his 3's . Bowen has been sensational with his defence against key players and the finals will be no different. Nazr Mohammad's acquisition from the Knicks have paid dividence big time. Spurs the eventual winners of this 04-05 season. No Doubt about it.

Wow! what an incredible performance by the Spurs. Duncan is kind of quiet, not making the headline news, but Manu is replacing him night in and night out. If Manu becomes final MVP (90% chance), I believe he will be the first 'international' player to get MVP award... When I say international, I am talking about the player who directly came to NBA after playing in their home country or elsewhere.. not US college like Hakeem Olajuan. In his first game, some of his moves looked like MJ. He really likes physical contacts when he drives to the hoop. I hope Ducan, Manu, and Parker would be consistent throughout the series. What an outstanding defese. They almost shut down all Detroit's key players. However, Detroits will find ways to break their defense with the crowd on their side. Go Spurs! Go....

Wait Wait don't tell me Pistons are rusty and out of gas. I got the chance to watch the whole game only yesterday and I am glad I did. Pistons, even underdogs had a superb game and proved they were once the champions. (I would not say WORLD as others and media refers to) They broke the ice of 90 points that Spurs defence held in 14? 13? previous games. Manu limited to 7 points and 6 turn overs... whole Argentina must be dissapointed. Duncan 14 points..his lowest in play offs. I did not like Bowen hitting 'cartilage less' nose of Hamilton yet no call. Spurs still got away with many fouls. Big Ben bestows big game. Billups stood up and did what he was supposed to do and lead the team. What ever has been potrayed on Spurs' quality was not simply there yesterday. Yet the Spurs still have every chance to win this series. I wonder how Ginobili is reacting to the injury he sustained and suspect similar to Shaqs bruise ? Looser will be: 1. if they loose a game in their home court 2. if they loose a close game. I hope this series will end with the last possession on game 7.

I thought the Spurs were playing the worst game of series; however, they were maintaining their score until 7-8 min left on the fourth quarter. After that, I could see the Spurs were mentally down. On the other hand, the Pistons were playing at their best with the whole crowd on their side, and doing anything that was impossible in regular games, like taking 4 consecutive offensive rebouds. That was just rediculous game for the Spurs. Manu was under tight defense. The Spurs got into early foul trouble and injury. Tony, who was the only offensive spark, was taken out at the end of third quarter to save him from more fouls. After that, Spurs lost their offensive move. Mcdyess did a very good job on Tim Duncan defensively. I think real MVP Duncan, as AX mentions, should play little more agresively in offense. My prediction Detroits will lose next game and win the following game. The series will be closed out in Spurs with 6-2.

The trend I'm seeing in last three games is still Detroit missing too many shots around the basket. That's why despite their best game in game 3, the spurs were allowed to hang around till the fourth quarter. BUt sooner or later that's gonna change, and the series will be more exciting. Despite all that...the ratings for NBA finals have gone down by 45% compared to last year? What could it be? are detroit and spurs don't have enough charisma to bring enough basketball fans to their tv sets? I think the sole reason being there isn't a team to HATE between the spurs and the pistons, though both of them are playing like bad boys. and I don't see any BEAT SPURS or BEAT PISTONS signs like that of LA :). I think the ratings will be higher next year as zen master has united with his most talented rogue ;). Will catch ya guys with REAL FIREWORKS next season. Till then, let me just root for the pistons anyway, just to prick the San Antonio Bandwagon that exists in this thread ;)

IF, Detroit wins tonight, the pattern will be similar to what they did to LA lakers last year. and as I said before, if Spurs loose a game at home, they are pretty much cooked. Oys chill As for declining TV rating, what do you expect in San Antonio? They are the fattest city and does not care for much of exercise. I said, if Miami and Purs were there in finals, the ratings would have dropped more. It would have been a very boring game, all concentrated below the basket. At least you can see some aerial shows with Pistons. Now the series evened, the rating should go up as it gets more interesting. Spurs are not keeping the pace with Pistons and thats why the games are boring.

haha Shirish bro. good analysis. As the saying goes it aint over till fat lady sings....and i don't see any around in detroit, but i can see big ben making all the fat ladies sing in san antonio eh? the way seriies is going..don't u think big ben is the MVP of the finals regardless of the outcome of the next two or three games!

OYS this MVP scenario is very changable, pretty much like the weather of New England. The first two games, it seemed it was Manu Ginobili and now the Big Ben. I noticed his game performance changes whether he braides his serpentine like hair or leaves. May be it obscures the views of his opponents. je hos.
