Its very hard for tps holders to return back to the USA. Tps doesn't necessarily mean guaranteed return for all. If u dont have papers and u r under the radar, dont bother. It is very likely you will get stuck there and may never be able to return. Dont be overly happy. Dont believe me? Talk to some at uscis. You will know what I mean. Gosh so much misinformation out here. Ppl here are sounding like its two way free tickets for illegals.

What are you talking about? TPS provides work permit to work legally. TPS doesn't provide travelling privilege or whatso'ever. So, stop talking bullshit. I know how much time it will take to talk with USCIS folks. So, don't spread wrong message.

If an undocumented Nepalese immigrant's family is a victim of an earthquake and needs financial support, he could very well provide for them by working here instead of being in Nepal - that is my rationale behind signing the TPS, and I did sign the petition yesterday.

Now with that being said, if there was an undocumented Indian immigrant who undergoes similar fate, I would repeat the same without a faint nuance of doubt in my mind.

Besides, I am also equally troubled that some individuals who are undocumented because of their own transgressions (read people with multiple DUIs, credit card fraudsters) will highly benefit out of it. But then again, I lean towards helping the individuals with genuine cause, even when they are in minority.

@dreambig may be you need to read before you comment. What bittertruth saying is correct. You might be able to work legally after TPS & may be able to turn that EAD into greencard in future but you return from Nepal on TPS is not guaranteed.

TPS holder are allowed to apply for travel documents. That means they can travel. Now what DHS officers will do at POE is other story, which no one knows.

Now, taking side advantage of earthquake by student and supporting that is complex thing. I sighed it for the sake of few people who might really need it. But I am against using it by students. These are the very same thing that we all usually accept easily cause it benefits few of us or our own people. But that doesn't mean that is right thing to do. Just like we spoil simple regulations in Nepal, for example building codes & environmental codes in Kathmandu. We accepted side benefit and here we are today.

It sounds big talk when one is in difficult position or going through hard time/struggle.A lot of us are still going through it and some went through. But it's wrong to use disaster and death of 9000 people for side benefit. This campaign should have been presented as , those who really needs it will use, but we student and others will not use it as side benefit. But it's exactly opposite right now.

you may have a good case and you could be legit in helping Nepal, Nepali or your own family in Nepal but this case is just like the Dual Citizenship conundrum for me. Too many thieves and crooks are lined up to take advantage of this tragic earthquake event to abuse the TPS. I suspect the thieves and frauds easily outnumber the few legit and good intended Nepali illegals. I am not going to put myself in that situations.

If illegals need to blame someone then it should be the other fraud/chor/fatah illegals. Besides, i dont understand why there is this guilt/blame factor for the legals. You illegals alone should come up with enough number of petitions if numbers is the only thing that is holding you back.

I know some ppl are being sentimental. I am helping those who are suffering out there. I dont understand why should I help them who is already here, making money. I dont care if they r illegal or not, but they can still support their family there by sending money they earned under the table. I was infact excited that illegals could get travel document to see their family who is dead or suffering. I signed this TPS petition for our country people, especially who couldn't get picked up in H1B lottery, and not ready to go back Nepal right away. I wish them good luck as well as the other students.

People who don't want to help illegal people get status are a bunch of self righteous opportunist pricks. The only reason they take the higher ground is because they or their loved ones are not affected.

Just because people in Nepal are suffering does not mean that life cannot go on in other places. Being a Nepali living in the US, all you can do is donate some money or in extreme cases make a trip to Nepal for a few days or weeks to help out some and then you come back. But mostly we are restricted to giving some donation to give solace to our hearts and minds. Besides that, we go do our normal day to day work. We go try to make our lives better wherever we are. One of the things that would make life better for a lot of people is if TPS is declared for Nepalis. There is nothing wrong with making your daily living while things are bad in Nepal, and in the same way there is nothing wrong with trying to make a better life for yourself whether it be working that extra hour or petitioning for TPS.

Don't let these self righteous pricks think that they are any better than people who have had a little bad luck resulting in their status.

These same people are hell bent on showing how much they care about Nepal and Nepalis but as soon as they have to do something for fellow Nepalis in the US, they feel like they are morally better than them as if they have never done anything illegal in their life.

Nepalis are not begging for TPS, they are only asking for US to consider since they have done it many times to other disaster stricken countries.
