I am not really a fan of UFC- too much "hugging". UFC is now all about take down and less about kiking and punches which are nice to see. Anyway here is clip of Andy Hug, who used to be Oyama Karate practioner, in action.

I would love to see real martial artist who have been practicing the art for years fight in UFC- not like those who learn for few months disrepute the the martial art. I think it is time that BJJ, which is Japanese without any doubt, be be brought to the ground from that high ego pedestal.

hey i_nepali

then you are more into Kickboxing, muaythai........then you'd love K1GP,,or K1 MAX tournaments..

yap standup is good to watch but if you love the sport then you'd appreicate the gorund games too buddy..but go-deep into MMA you'd love it more than "ONLY" standup

Yeah, been following it kinda crazy lately. BJ Penn, Machida, GSP are some favs. Last Saturday they  had PPV fight between GSP and Matt Serra, and GSP totally dominated him. That dude is a badass.

I don't mind watching stand up fights but ground fights are crazy too. It's different kinda fun, lots of techniques involved and "hugging" is stupid only on boxing.

BJJ not related to Japanese, did you say that, Don ? I have nothing to say.

Lefthook, you're right about what  I like. Ground work type martial art has been hyped too much. I don't understand why the top real martial artist don't take challenge against them. It's a shame to see too many so called martial art representative, who don't even seem to throw decent kicks and pucnhes, mauled down helpessly.

I would love to see say the knee kicks, knife hand strike and shin kick break the bones of those BJJ practioner when they come to grab hold of the legs.

Wow guys I guess we are the first to start the MMA thread on sajha...Way to go...I love Franklin, Griffin and Matt Huge as well... anyone!! There is no match up with SILVA on light weight so no question of not liking the Master Blaster who made  Franklin look like a kid on the last 2 fights...

Don. this is for you, see how he beat the man who modified the orignial Japanese jujitu. BJJ is Japanese through and thorugh and don't waste your time arguing.

And last but not least, Bruce Lee was the father of MMA and he was way way ahead of many martial artistes. Read more about this great man and don't be surprise if Dana White, the UFC president has good words for this Chinese/German mixed prodigy who still has millions of fans world wide.

layhul,,

fedor is considered to be the best P4P MMA fighter in the world not in K1.. in K1 Semmy Schilt is the best today with 3 consecutive World K-1 GP titles

i_nepali,,
it's easier said than done,, no offense ,, I prefer  standup fights(rather than some Jits) with lots of muay thai clinch and knees to the jaws,, some hancy fancy spinning back fists,,back kicks., superman punches etc and............... fighter KO'ed cold... but it's not that easy to break the bones of BJJ practitioner,,,they can take shots and are durable in fights,,,but once fight go to the ground then "the great standup artists" will be like turtle on its back soooooo.....

remember in early UFC and Pridefc days BJJ guys esp  gracie family dominated,, then people started knowing the value or JJ in MMA, nowadays everfighter is crosstrained ,, so that they can do well in every aspect of the game ,,but nobody is soo perfect.. every fighter has his own strength /weakness

what I am trying to say is it's MMA so every single art is equally revered and cannot be ignored,, yap it's true that some art is boring to watch that's about it............

lEFTHOOK, I KNOW WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT ANYWAY IT IT IS JUDT A MATTER OF TIME WHEN THE STAND UP FIGHTER WILL SHOW THE GRAPPLING PRACTIONER THE REAL DEALr

I just feel thsat the real martial artiste who practice for years have never represented the art. The one who does are those who take for months and nothing more. I want to see some bones broken by those low kickes !!!
