i have been reading the news past few days on the peaceful protest Tibetans are trying to make in various parts of the world!, including nepal....where chinese officials are instructing the nepalese police to beat the crap out of the protestors! since when did we/the nepalese goverment gave rights to embassy officials to be out on the streets and instruct the police, our brothers, who are paid by our taxes! and its not like they are destroying property, they are showing their support to the land they have ties to! peacefully! whatever happened to the idea of freedom/ and a free society/and the idea of expressing opinions through writings and demonstrations?

how can we help? what do you all have to say about this?
may be we can discourage china doing a few simple things-
- buying less from walmart that says china/made in china
- eating less at chinese restaurants
-and doing our own dry-cleaning?

u might think what i said is asinine but thats what i think!

K ho Foru? Kura suru garya chha euta bisaya ma, tapai ta kura lai nai ghumayera aarkai banaunu hunuhudo raichha.

Thikai chha. But, About Tibet, Tibet is intregal part of China is the view of one prominent party in Nepal.

Read the news here:
http://www.nepalnews.com/archive/2008/mar/mar17/news06.php

UML says it favors 'One China policy' as violent protest erupts in Tibet

Communist Party of Nepal-Unified Marxist Leninist (CPN-UML) has expressed serious concern over what it called anti-China activities in Nepali soil in recent days.

Reiterating that it is in favor of 'One China policy', an official line of the Nepal government since long and which categorically defines Tibet as an integral part of China, CPN-UML has also reiterated that activities against any neighboring country should not be allowed from Nepali territory.

The capital city has been witnessing "Free Tibet" protests launched by Tibetan refugees against Chinese rule in recent days.

A press statement issued by the party's Foreign Bureau on Sunday said it was deeply shocked by the anti-China demonstrations in Nepal and called on the government to take appropriate steps

"Our party has always remained in favor of one-China policy and stresses that no anti-China activity should be held in Nepal. We should be very much aware of the adverse effects such activities can have on the relationship of the two countries and urge the government to take appropriate steps against it," the statement said.

The press release, however, is conspicuously silent over the death of at least 80 people in the crackdown by Chinese military and police in Lhasa.

Meanwhile, reports say that violence in Tibet has spilled over to neighboring provinces Sunday where Tibetan protesters defied a Chinese government crackdown. The Dalai Lama warned Tibet faced 'cultural genocide' and appealed to the world for help.

The Associated Press reported that protests against Chinese rule of Tibet were reported in neighboring Sichuan and Qinghai provinces and also in western Gansu province. All are home to sizable Tibetan populations.

"Whether intentionally or unintentionally, some kind of cultural genocide is taking place," said the Dalai Lama, the exiled Tibetan spiritual leader. He was referring to China's policy of encouraging the ethnic Han majority to migrate to Tibet, restrictions on Buddhist temples and re-education programs for monks.

He told reporters in Dharmasala, the north Indian town where Tibet's self declared government-in-exile is based, that an international body should investigate the government's crackdown on the Lhasa protests.

Thubten Samphel, a spokesperson for the Dalai Lama's government in exile, said multiple sources inside Tibet had counted at least 80 corpses since the violence broke out Friday. He did not know how many of the bodies were protestors. On Friday, the exiled government said at least 30 protestors had been killed by Chinese authorities and the number could be as high as 100.

Meanwhile, the official Chinese Xinhua News Agency has said at least 10 civilians were burned to death Friday. The figures could not be independently verified because China restricts foreign media access to Tibet.

Me thinks:

There's not much we can do as a nation about Tibet issue.  Nepal depends too heavily in Chinese foreign policy and their aid.  I don't think we want to piss off our neighbour to the north.  However, as an individual, you can lend support in whatever manner as you see fit, or not.  I would if there is an opportunity, but from human relations perspective, not political.

I am not saying stake a stance against China either.

All I am saying is have a lil respect for the Tibetans living in Nepal. Coming from a country who is often bullied by its neighbors I tought may we would have a lil sympathy for people(Tibetans) who were forced out of their own country.

DO ON TO OTHER AS YOU WOULD WANT THEM TO DO TO YOU(IF NEPAL IS ENGULFED BY EITHER NEIGHBOR ...WE WILL BE IN THE SAME BOAT LIKE THE TIBETANS TOO).

Indians treat us like shit-------> we treat them like shit too-----> therefore the cycle goes on(calling each other names, playing political games)

At the moment Tibetans respect Nepali people for their hospitality(a lot of Tibetans call Nepal their second home). Now if these snakes keep spewing vwnom like above we might have another situation in our hand(like we really need another one). TARA YO GADHA HARU LEY YESTOO KURAA KE SOCHNU SAKTYO GADHAA TA PAREYYY KE GARNEY DIMAAG BHARIII GU NAI GUU CHAN. Tyasai ley yestai kubuddhi kura matrai garnu sakchan.

They are being helped. They are getting refuge status, and are transplanting themselves to Europe and US.

Its not just the matter of rich and poor JAVA. If Indians or Tibetans get rich in Nepal whose fault is it ? IT IS OUR OWN NEPALI PEOPLE"S LAZYNESS THAT THEY ARE TAKING OVER OUR BUSINESSES AND INFRASTRUCTURE. A lot of them come o Nepal with nothing in their pocket and are millionaires now at the expense of our lazyass Nepali people.

I want to help the Bhutanese people too. But the Politicians in Nepal are too busy securing their own political future and bank accounts rather than tackling this issue. Yo CHOOOR POLITICIAN RA LEADER AHRU AFU PANI KEHI GARDAINAN AKKAA LAI PANI KEHI GARNU DIDAINAN. Therefore our own Nepali refugees are getting out of Nepal.

Other than at a personal level, I don't see what we as a country can really do without jeopardizing our own interests. Tibetans can do without our help as they have thus far over decades. The most we can do  is to not hand back to the Chinese authorities those helpless Tibetans who flee to Nepal en route to Dharamshala and allow peaceful protests.

At the end of the day, the only thing we can really do is stay out of it all as we have so well done for the last fifty years. Nepal's blind eye policy towards Tibet has worked thus far, and while the idea of a "re-awakening" (to continue with the metaphor) sounds appealing, I don't think anyone at the policy making level in Nepal is ready for a shift in Nepal's Tibet policy.

Just my thoughts.

My opinion is there is a need to look all the problems from practical perspectives rather than being over-sentimental. And, after 50 years of intregation of Tibet in China, there is no chance of Tibet being free now.

There is no need of calling UN n stuff like that coz United Nations was there even when China took control of Tibet. And, I personally do not believe that there can be seperate Tibet now because it has been very much part of China for 50 years. U may not like it but this is what I believe and I will not have any support for free Tibet. There are many people who believe in a way I believe and I know, some ppl do not like it, and think differently.

Nepal Govt. is in no position to help Tibetan and for that matter even largest democratic country-India is not extending any help to Tibetans. So, Tibetans can just shut up and accept the situation. Internally, there can be movements for political and civil liberties but FREE TIBET, I do not support and I do not see any reason to support it.

Sajha Lawyer,

Are you going to say the same shit if Nepal as a country is either taken over by China or India ? You will come and tell US(Nepali People) to Shut up ?

Cause we are in the same boat Tibet was before it was taken over by China( a sovereign nation). We neither have the army or economic power to deflect either if they choose to invade Nepal. SO ACCORDING TO SAJHA LAWYER HERE NEPALI PEOPLE SHOULD JUST ACCEPT AS THEIR MASTER IF EITHER OF THEM TAKE OVER NEPAL ? HE HE He probably thinks Iraq's invasion of Kuwait is justified too. And so is Israel's invasion of Palestine. hasaucha yo gadha ley. he he
