- You can see Indians in almost every company these days. Especially in IT related companies, 80 percent of programmers are Indian. Out of 80 percent, 95 percent of them have fake and manipulated resumes.
Very few Americans have idea that those Indians are getting job with those fake resumes. Americans simply trust those Indians. I just don't know why. Those white American have no clue that they are being misled. This is happening in every American-owned company.
Do you buy this? I am seeing this in my everyday life.

Lot of indian owned consultancies encourage their recruits to exaggerate their experience in their resumes. I know some folks who put in 4-5 years of experience after a month of training. Most americans grow up giving exams on an honor system so they are less likely to mistrust the less honorable resumes generated through these mostly indian consultancies.

They do the same everywhere. I met a Engineer from Singapore, a melting pot of Indians and Chinese descendants. He implied the same, they're mostly fake. But he admitted that few are genuine and really good. The fake resume consulting Indians are quite high and growing every day. I'm not saying all of the Indians are fake, there are some good ones. It's just a matter of time before US takes actions. I think it WILL be an issue soon.

But don't you think work matters at the end. I mean i have seen many with fake resumes being fired on the first month itself. As most of them get hired as contractors, the employer has the right to fire them any time. So if they work hard and perform, then nobody is going to care for the resumes actually. And these Indians are really smart people, i wonder from where they learn everything and seem to work perfectly well in every situation.

Sheet It's not about whether they're smarter than the rest, it's about work ethics, honesty and fair chances to other who're not Indian. Being Nepali, I understand why we think it's not a big deal "to lie"cause we've learned those traits from Indian through media, entertainments and other common traditions. But come on, do you really think it's good for the society? or the country in which you're practicing those loophole tricks? If they claim they're smarter, why can't they do the right way. It's not like in India, people do give chances here in the West. Not always, but most of the time.

Mr Sheetalb
You being an undergraduate may know better mathematics that a Ph.D. guy. Do you think you should get professor position? Yes of course you may get it if you present fake documents that resemble the authentic Ph.D. credentials.
And by the way, you should not join college. Why would you?

I agree with the morality 100%. In fact it really troubles me that people can get away with their fakeness but it looks like it is not only Indians but even Americans fake it a lot. Exaggerating in resume seem a norm here but of course not like Indians.
But what i meant is the companies at least have their check and balance in place and if they are smart can easily detect the wrongs.
Morality seem to be an issue in many sector otherwise.

Exaggerating in moderation is not illegal.. everybody does it but outright lying is.. There is a file line between exaggerating and lying that should never be crossed..

I think resume padding is prevalent and in fact I think these consultancies actually level the playing field for many. Most Americans can get work experience because they have personal connections, which makes it easier for them to get started. However, us international students do not have such connections or resources, but we do have the potential to perform at a high level. The job market is disproportionately biased towards experienced individuals. Thus having no experience will render thousands of well-qualified people jobless. The fact that these people lie on their resume, get a job and then perform at the experienced level right away actually tells us that experience is overrated and that if you have the desire to succeed, you can overcome any odds.

"dave" No society is perfect, we're not talking about mere Exaggerating. Yes, there are many connection based jobs here too and many get away with it. Majority of people don't fall into those category. The level of Indian fake is at a criminal level; that's the concern. I'm sad that people of your caliber justifying blatant dishonesty....Hmmmmhhhhh.

Put that bong down Marley and get your facts straight. 75% to 85% of jobs within the US economy are acquired through personal connections. So yes, the MAJORITY OF PEOPLE do fall into this category. Check out that link if you don't believe me. http://www.job-hunt.org/hiddenjobmarket.shtml " We all hear that most jobs (75% to 85%, reportedly)
are not advertised in the newspaper or posted on Web job boards.
These invisible jobs are the infamous "hidden job market,"
and you reach this gold mine of jobs by networking your way into
it."Also, I know that the degree of manipulation on these resumes might be more than just exaggeration. But hey, desperate times call for desperate measures. In the end both the employers and employees are helping each other out, so what the hell is your problem? And one more thing don't question my caliber, I am just trying to illuminate the other side of the mirror. You bloody well know that everybody has a right to opinion and that you should learn to respect it.

Fo sho sun4u!! If 75 to 85% of the jobs are granted through nepotism and favoritism, what are poor mofos like us gonna do? You gotta up the anti on your competition, and if thats how you're gonna do it, so be it. Just don't be dumb enough to get caught. I'm sure you won't be asked to discover the cure to cancer or unravel the mysteries of the universe at your job. Just be patient, calm, open to suggestions and act professional.

I remember a line in the movie matrix "human beings are a virus...."
I think that applies to indians (i guess even we nepalis are also culpable to some extent...but i have my prejudices being a nepali). But the indians make fake resumes, those who own business in america cheat one taxes (i have seen so many that i will generalize)....
Whereever these sick indians go, they will screw up the system. And oh yesh...most indians have an ego twice their size....they like to belive they know it all.
