Its so Sad these thing are happening in Nepal and nobody seems to care.

I know, I felt the same way when I read about the going ons in Kapilbastu, but I have to admit I have been doing the same, keeping myself busy with news about Indian Idol 3 and donating to thamel.com for Prashant Fan Club. How ironic is that?
We all have our priorities wrong.

Kapilvastu toll more: Locals [ 2007-9-21 ]

Kapilvastu, Sept. 20: Eighteen people have been confirmed killed in the riots that started at different parts of Kapilvastu after Abdul Moit Khan was shot dead by unidentified persons on September 16.

A team of the representatives of the National Human Rights Commission, human rights activists and journalists that visited the area said that at least 30 others were still missing.

However, local people suspect the number of deaths could be more. The human rights team found severed heads, rotting bodies and some were burnt beyond recognition and buried. Some bodies were also thrown in sugarcane field. The local administration lifted curfew in some Kapilvastu from 6 to 6 during the day but again imposed the ban for the night. But in Chandrauta there is still round the clock curfew.

Two more persons were killed in a clash between two factions at Chandrauta Thursday. Twelve persons, five of them policemen, were injured. The preliminary estimation has put the total damages to physical properties at Rs. 2.5 billion.

Most of those who died are of Bishunpura VDC and more than 40 people in the village are still missing. In Birpur, Chandrauta also at least 12 people, including five women and a five-year-old boy are still missing.

Life in Birpur, Krishnanagar, Chanai, Bishanpur, Shivapur, Patthardehiya, Ganeshpur, Gugauli and others VDCs has still not come to normal. More than 5,000 people in those villages are displaced from their villages and are taking refuge outside the village.

About 3,000 of them are taking refuge in the base camp of the Armed Police Force at Gorusinghe and Chandrauta. According to local people, about 150 Muslim families, who were also displaced, are taking refuge at Jawabhari and about 500 more have crossed over to India.

Today, families of the dead, displaced and the victims of the riot tried to attack parliamentarians Dip Kumar Upadhyaya of NC (D), Dan Bahadur Chaudhary of UML and Ramlotan Chaudhari of CPN-Maoist in Charauta. The irate people said they do not want leaders who cannot protect them. The MPs were saved from people and were taken to the APF base camp. The people also attacked several journalists who had reached there. The journalists were escorted by the APF towards Butwal. The victims said the journalists did not do anything for them. They also obstructed vehicles on the Mahendra Highway. Their grouse was the state has also been treating them as refugee from outside.

More than 500 houses were torched, looted and vandalised and about 5000 people have fled after mobs led by Nagendra Upadhyaya, Niruddin Musalman, Pataraku Kalwar, Raju Dhoni, Munik Mushalman, all supporters of Moit Khan created mayhem at Birpur, Chandrauta and other areas of Kapilvastu. Many of those killed are people of hill origin and local people said there were also cases of rape.

Dozens of people were also injured and they are being treated at Lumbini Zonal Hospital and local clinics, chief district officer Narendra Dahal.

Nepali people do not know how to defend themselves and they will never learn to. I am not suprised at what happened and I know it will continue to happen.
I did not respond to most of the threads related to the incident because I know just talking won't do anything. Also I made a thread regaurding Gaur and I got the same reply so nothing new. Also Yah the incident happened so what are we doing about it, nothing but talking on Sajha.com and condemning and thats all we are capable of doing and nothing more. I noticed that about Nepali people so I thought it, unless I am capable or someone is capable of doing something I rather shut my mouth.

Until then keep reading stories about how pahade's are going to be raped (as mentioned above in the article), killed and decapitated, because thats all we can do.
I am shocked just as anyone else is that we have hijada's (fagats) leaders.

youknowwho is right, like government and local officials we need to ignore it .. is Indian idol more important than whats going on in Nepal right now? come on guys.

यति ठूलो घटना हुँदा पनि न सरकार संवेदनशील देखिएको छ न नेपालीहरु नै। कति नेपालीलाई त थाहा पनि छैन कपिलवस्तुमा के भएको छ भनी। हामी नेपाली किन यसरी असंवेदनशील बन्दै गएका हौँ ? यति ठूलो घटनाले पनि हाम्रो मन किन छोएको छैन ? सरकार त निकम्मा भयो, भयो। देशमा आफ्नै दाजुभाइहरु काटाकाट गरेर साम्प्रदायिक दंगा फैलिँदा पनि कसैलाई वास्ता नै छैन, किन ? काठमाडौँमा शृंखलावद्ध बम विस्फोट भएको भोलिपल्ट नेटवर्क व्यवसायका दलालहरुले र्‍याली निकालेको त तपाईँले थाहा पाइसक्नुभएको छ। आखिर यो ‘गैँडा प्रवृत्ति’ किन बढिरहेको ?

भनेपछि हाम्रो शेयर बजारलाई राजधानीमा बम पडकियोस् कि देशमा राजनीतिक अस्थिरता छा‍अ‍ोस्, केही मतलब हुँदैन। शेयर बजारको कुरालाई नेपाली मनसित तुलना गर्न सकिन्छ। गौरमा हत्याकाण्ड हुँदा बरु केही हल्ला भएको थियो। तर कपिलवस्तुको घटनालाई सामान्य रुपमा लिइएको छ। जबकि गौरमा भन्दा कम भयावह र क्रुर आक्रमण कपिलवस्तुमा भएको छैन। लाशै गन्ने हो भने पनि कपिलवस्तुमा बढी मारिएका छन्। गौर राजनीतिक प्रतिशोधका कारण गरिएको हत्या थियो भने कपिलवस्तुमा त हिन्दु-मुस्लिम धार्मिक दंगा र मधेशी-पहाडी साम्प्रदायिक दंगा गराउन खोजिएको छ।

मारिएकाहरु कुनै पार्टीसित आवद्ध भएको भए यहाँ कोकोहोलो मच्चाइन्थ्यो होला। लाशलाई झण्डा अ‍ोढाएर भाषण ठोकिन्थ्यो होला। १० लाख रुपैयाँ क्षतिपूर्ति दिएर शहिद घोषणा गर्ने आश्वासन दिइन्थ्यो होला। तर हैन, क्रुरतापूर्वक मारिएका निर्दोषहरु त सर्वसाधारण छन्। ती गरिब सर्वसाधारणप्रति कसलाई केको वास्ता ? केको चासो ?

शाही शासनकालमा प्रतिकार समूहका नाममा हतियार समेत दिएर उक्साउने समूह नै अहिले अनियन्त्रित देखिएका छन्। जसको हत्या भएको थियो, र जसको हत्याको बहानामा यो सब विध्वंश निम्त्याइएको छ, उसको घरमा सुरक्षाकर्मीको बेसक्याम्प नै राखिएको थियो। बेसक्याम्प नै राखिए पनि न उनको सुरक्षा भयो, न उनका समर्थकहरुले अन्धाधुन्ध मच्चाएको विध्वंशलाई नै रोक्न सक्यो।

उत्तेजित भीडले गाउँका गाउँलाई जलाउँदा पनि प्रशासन मौन थियो। किन तत्काल कारबाही गर्न सकेन। यस्तो गम्भीर घटना हुँदा जिम्मेवारी कसको ?

घटनास्थल पुगेर फर्किएका एक सञ्चारकर्मी अघि भन्दै थिए- इराकको जस्तो स्थिति छ त्यहाँ। यत्रो घटना हुँदा पनि कसैलाई मतलबै नभएको देख्दा म छक्क परेको छु।

हुन पनि सञ्चार माध्यम पनि त्यहाँको भयावह घटनालाई चित्रण गर्न असफल भएको छ। सर्वसाधारणलाई संयम र धैर्य अपनाउन आग्रह गर्दै पनि त्यहाँको वस्तुस्थिति चित्रण गर्न सकिन्थ्यो। तर खोई, एउटा टिभीका एक विशेष संवाददाता केही दिनका लागि घटनास्थलमा जानु बाहेक काठमाडौँका कुन चाहिँ सञ्चारमाध्यमले त्यहाँ प्रतिनिधि पठाएर विस्तृत समाचार दिने प्रयास गर्‍यो ? कसैले पनि छैन। भन्नलाई यहाँ राष्ट्रिय दैनिकहरु टन्न छन्। राष्ट्रिय टेलिभिजन च्यानलहरु छन्। तर सबै काठमाडौँको राजनीतिक घटनाक्रममा घुमिरहेका हुन्छन्। ‘जनमत’ भनेर दिनदिनै भक्स पप लिइन्छ। तर विडम्बना, त्यसमा राखिने आवाजहरु सबै काठमाडौँभित्र कै हुन्छन्। अरुको त के कुरा, चक्रपथबाहिर कै पनि हुँदैनन्। अनि यिनीहरुले कसरी आफूलाई राष्ट्रिय सञ्चारमाध्यम भन्छन् ?

कपिलवस्तु घटनाप्रति गम्भीर भइएन र यसबाट पाठ लिइएन भने यस्ता घटना अब बारम्बार हुनसक्छ। सरकार र प्रशासनलाई यस्ता घटनाबाट सचेत बनाउन हामी सबैले आफ्नोतर्फबाट प्रयास गर्नैपर्छ।

नत्र सरकारले आज जस्तै मर्नेको परिवारलाई १० हजार, घर जल्नेलाई ५ हजार र घटनाको छानबिन गर्न एउटा झाराटराई आयोग, जसको रिपोर्ट कहिले पनि सार्वजनिक गरिँदैन, गठन गर्दै आफ्नो जिम्मेवारी पूरा गरेको ठानिरहेको हुनेछ।

We are not heartless.We have very soft heart and we can not see people dying either.We can not kill people just because he/she is not of our caste or religion or political beliefs.Now question comes where are those "WE"?

We have hearts and we show our emotion towards our country and people who are actually suffering back home with a very less hope of betterment.Now real question is :

do our DOCTORS,ENGINEERS,SCIENTIST,ENTERPRENEUR have courage to be guided by what their heart say and sacrifice their luxury life here in USA and go back and fight for the real change? Obvious answer is :BIG NO..

If you can do nothing for the change,I do not see any points discussing for the sake of discussion.

Kapilbastu incident as well as Rautahat incidents are inhuman acts.There were many maoist activities in past were inhuman too.But again problems can not be resolved just condemning from here.And when it comes to action,your personal priority comes first.
So there are no solutions until youth studying/working abroad go back and educatiing people for good.
