saw the osaka pic before..and was wondering..is that a runway?or a jetty?cos the way the pic is taken(manipulated?ps anyone?;oP) ..looks too tiny to be a runway?:oS well say it is a runaway..nice!:oD but that shudnt take any SHINE away from the Syangboche runway!hey!its a diff place..diff terrains(we got no sea!;oP) and esp the funds each has!poor underdeveloped country(lets not even getn into the ppls mentality ;oP) with poor infrastructure and wat not?;oP hehe plus if there was a an airport with state of the arts facilities and wat not?wouldnt that be a white elephant?all shine and nothn else?:oS ;oP hehe well when our country reaches a calibre that can be compared with developed countries(as if this wil happen?oh well nothin wrong in dreamin with one foot still in reality eh?;oP hehe) would i really hope to see such a real great airport with top notch facilities in there? ...but hey! check out the majestic mesmerising mountain backdrop!they are there!which cant be constructed!;oP hehe..imagine lookin out of the plane window while nearing landing and seeing those breath-taking white mountains and weather permitting sunny azure sky filled with fluffy clouds!:oD arghhh!!i wanna be in a plane right now!;oP hehe.. anyways another digression(typical me?;oP)..that pic reminds me of the time i was in this airport in solukumbu area(no idea wat it was called)..the runway was much smaller i think(so a bit jealous of Syangboche ;oP)..but i saw smthing that is well urghh...one really frail, sick and bed ridden old man lying there with his family and concerned members around him..and he wasnt allowed to board the plane to fly to kathmandu for treatment cos there was one rich guy(and must have been a real influential one at that :oS) who was boardin the plane too and didnt wanna take any chance that he might get the old person's sickness too as they say(sing hehe).."smtimes truth is stranger than fiction!" but it turned out well..as an unscheduled plane landed later(the other one was supposed to be the last for that day)..and took the sick old man! so cool down ..if ur blood was boiling?;oP..u do check ur HBP frequently dun u?hope so!:oD hehe..and no!the other plane carryn the rich guy didnt crash!u were wishin that happened werent u? well *ahem* urs truly is typin here ..and i guess i was on the same plane as him?hehe and i better not tell u "wat diff i found between the two pics" cos i dun think this was "find the diff in the pics" game was it?;oP hehe.. good day!:oD

Dananah, Thankyou for making me think. Actually i was under the erroneous impression that the strip was a Runway. You are eagle eyed. I didn't notice that it was too narrow to be a runway & i was already envying the pilots who could use that runway. To give more information about the place--- Let me first apologise for the mistake, it's not Osaka. It's Shimojishima. And it's shot at Shimojishima Airport . This Airport is for training Pilots. Here's a nice overview of Shimojishima Airport ......

And regarding that sayangboche runway, Ihe strip is dirt, heavily slopped and there is a shear cliff face at the far end. Unsure of length. But Amazing scenery! I was so frustrated to see a runway of such poor quality in Our country, hence this thread. But see what i found!
This is lukla Airport. Not bad at all!!! quite tricky mountains there......I'd love to fly there.... Of Interest : Only pilots with over seven years of experience are allowed to land there

JiuZhai - Huanglong (JZH / ZUJZ) , China. (The altitude of this airport (JZH / ZUJZ) is 3447.7m/11311ft. It is one of the highest tableland airports in China also in the world. The airport has the extreme weather and the complex of nature obstacles make this one to be one of the most difficult airports to operate in the world.)
