Hi all. I want to take image via my sony digital camera and modify the output to have the following specification without of loss of quality and without any image stretch. In my camera the lowest resolution i can get is 640 * 480

Required image specifications:
Image format :jpeg
Image file size: 65,500 bytes
image resolution : 320 pixels high by 240 pixels wide
Image color depth :24-bit color

I got photo shop 6 at my hand . could an expert tell me the steps that i need to follow to get the above specification jpeg .Obviously the already taken digital camera image will not have the required specification. So i need an expert help to get the EXACT jpeg image with given specification .Thanks

I guess no expert out there? Well, I am not an expert but, this is how I did it for couple of my friends with and it worked.
They wanted 320 by 320, so I cropped out suitable square passport looking pic form the original photo with the help of rectanguler marque. Went to image size then chosed PIXEL in pixel dimension and type 320 on width. Chosed jpg format on save as option. If your pic is to big in size, try to lower resolution little bit but of course it will degrade pic little bit but not noticeably for this purpose.

go to www.resize2mail.com
and from there you can set a pixel . but the important thing is you have to get the picture from sony dsc cybershot by setting the camera into the vpeg- email .

if you have photoshop there is a tool that is called "crop" you'll also see a two fields taht you need to enter when using the crop tool, the width and the height. that's where you put your 320 and 240. the crop tool is like rectangular selection tool but it select the image in the height and width specified by you. after this you have the file in specific height and width. next you'd take that pic and save it in the proper file size. if your pic after cropping is too big, go to your first menu that has the save button but instead of that click the "save for web" button. this will drastically decrease teh file size but still retain the quality of the picture.
this is something for your DV lottery thing so make sure you use thier photo validator thing and you should be good at this point. hope this helps.

Damadol,
When you reduce imaze size do that in both width and length in SAME PROPORTION. See the 'Well taken photographs' in lottery site. when you think your image is good enough (I mean.. your head size and stuffs) then Make a rectangle of 320*240 or a square of 300*300 (both are valid) and crop the image. It should work.
