Should not we teach our children Newari. The Newar Civilization "Now a days the term Nepalese has a far wider significance, indeed almost a changed meaning, but when we speak of Nepalese civilization, we can only mean Newar civilization" - David Snellgrove 'Shrines and Temples of Nepal' Arts Asiatique VIII,I,1961 Page # 3

" Bahun Chettris Le Nepal ra Nepali ko bhavisaya .. khatam gara yo...ooooooooooo... " No one ever told newari people to not teach their kids newari, okay, its their choice if they want their kids speaking only newari so shut the hell up and think before you criticize any caste, you're totally like 20th century's, your thinkings are so disgusting, low standar south asian type!

David Snellgrove wrote what he realized. The etymology for Nepal is "Nepa" and is meant for Kathmandu valley in Newari.

"David Snellgrove wrote what he realized. The etymology for Nepal is "Nepa" and is meant for Kathmandu valley in Newari. " are u trying to make a point that only newaris are native nepalis now???!!! "Nepa" may be a newari word but Nepal is "hamro" not "timro", like its totally nonsense to tell that newaris rule and bahuns are khatam, now, relax, its your country, its our country! jesus christ!

Mr. Nationalist5 If Bahun and Chettris le des khattam paryo, are your people's balls not big enough to get up there to mitigate the effects. I don't see anything in the constitution that restricts Newars from reaching high places. So Take your whining and go home you racist, bullhead, closed minded coward. Aman, Definitely teach your children Newar, try to retain that culture, language and tradition. Tamangs and Gurungs and Sherpas do the same as well. But F U for restricting this thread for to Newars only you racist bastard too.

Pink, I learned the etymology for Nepal in lower secondary school Nepali history book written by non-newar. There is no such thing to make a big "sampradayik danga" here. If so, then that is very unfortunate. All Newars are Nepali, but David definitely didn't mean all Nepali to be Newars.... hope that helps...

Nepali Culture is Newari Culture, and vise-versa. Bahuns and Chhetris are descendants of Pakistani Muslims. Darshan Hajur, Bhuja junargarisiiyo ? these are immitators of Muslim tradition. Even the shahs of Nepal are muslims, they changed their reliion to rule nepal, inside they are mulim katwahs, haha

This string is only meant for Newars. I think Newari language will be history if we do not teach newari to ours children. there is no racism but love for one's language.

What newars have done in Nepal, no body can undermine it. I salute them. Kathamndu Valley need not be Capital at all... even without being Capital it will continue to flourish. Lets shift the Capital to say Dharan.

Yes, look beyond jaat bhasha etc. But we have to know the true history of Nepal and Newar. It doesn't mean that Bahun Chhetri do not belong to us. They also have thier own history. If the culture, tradition and language of Newar have significant value, let's admire it. To teach Newari language to Newar children is the must. Even we are teaching only English ( Hipocrates). It has been scientifically proved that any one who knows more than 3 languages are definitely more intelligent than who does not. It is also wrong phenomenon that Newari speaker were/are/will be weak in Nepali. I know a native Newari speaker who scores the highest mark in SLC AND ISc.

We have to remember that Newari Language is what got Nepal in the International arena ie. the United Nations. If it wasn't for Newari, we wouldn't have been able to get so much aid from the UN. Right now Newari language is not given any attention by the government. It needs to be preserved. Newari is one of the authentic cultures of Nepal and it deserves government intervention before it becomes extinct. Not sure whether it's due to absense of Newars in policy making positions or for what reason it's being ignored.
