Foreign language in parliament Kathmandu , 30 May: When Sadhbhawana (Ananddevi) party’s Hridayesh Tripathi addressed the parliament in Hindi language on 16 May in the parliamentary session, people have expressed dissatisfaction on him, writes Dibya Chakshu weekly. Tripathi has challenged the constitution of 1990 as well as the parliamentary announcement of 2006 by using a foreign lingo while addressing the parliament, even the Speaker of the parliament Subash Nembang did not bother to stop Tripathi speaking from foreign language. Instead of using one’s mother tongue, if one is allowed to use a foreign language at a place like parliament, which represents the nation as a whole then why do not the speaker of the parliament rule the house in his native language? People’s News/KDB IS OUR NATIONALITY AND NATIONAL UNITY IN QUESTION ?

Nepal is no more a Hindu Kingdom and so why should people not have language rights. If they can practice a religion of choice whay can't they speak the language of their choice??

lalupari There has to be a state language which everybody can understand which is spoken in the parliament. In India it is english. If a magar speaks in magar language and a tharu speaks in tharu language how will a common Nepali understand what the hell is he saying???/

camoflaged I agree it is a local language but one is supposed to speak in National Language, not in local language. That is in every country. In United Kingdom - they have minority seats. But, the monority leader does not go to the parliament and speak in Hindi or Urdu or whatever language in the world is his/her mother tongue. So does it apply in Indian parliament where one speaks in english because there are parliamentarians who do not understand Hindi.

what's your problem,,, ego or super ego? Let anyone speak their own language....... who the hell you are ontrolling to people, what should they speak. If they want people understand they need to communicate people's language. If they can't communicate better, that's their problems. If Newars don't speak or read Nepali, they will fail in to communicate wih the language spoken by majority people. It is why we let's lead and make a law on be half of majority people......... muthibhar mandale le aphno shahi shashan tikauna,,,, janta thagne prapoganda gareko jasto hudai na democracy system.

Aur apne PN shah ke staute ko bhi lugni phenadiya . HAHAHhA There is nothing of ego sego gallantji, There is code of conduct .There is dresscode and language in HOR .It shows how discipline the Representatives are .But it is right that those retarted monkeys don't know discipline neither they know what is democracy those monkeys are the reason that were nepal is right now .If tirpathi wants to speak maithali or bhojpuri that would have been different. I don't know what tribe in nepal speak plain hindi.Got my point!!! don't say i know hindi .hell yes i know hindi so do u .So should we start communicating'in hindi!!!!!

Chinese language is getting quite popular in Nepal these days as well. There are many schools teaching Chinese these days, so why not Chinese? Let anyone who knows how to speak Chinese or English or Marwari or another language prove their language skills by speaking in the language of their choice in the hosue. It is a "secular" country why restriction on any language? Let them speak the language of their choice. Don't talk about nationalism? Who cares about nationalism or patriotism?? If there are many who do not understand the language being spoken than hire an interpretor to explain it to them. There are many people who go to "Bishwa Bhasa Campus" let them get employed for a change. LOL

Aey lalpapri gadha, why hindi when most people from terai in census show they speak maithali or bhojpuri. Sale India ko dalal. If they want to represent people from terai then speak those language not hindi. As far as national language it should be english so that there wont be any discrimination against anyother language and maybe people would be more educated then.

I have heard Hridayesh Tripathi speak Nepali. His Nepali is excellent. Yet he chose to speak in Hindi. And that Nembwang does not say anything ? Amazing downhill path !

No more khas language an calling it “ nepaliâ€, it does not represent the people of Nepal. Should adopt a language like English as the official and education medium in Nepal, English should be used in parliament!!!

No it does not represent the people of Nepal but English to be fair to all the different languages in Nepal. Why not Hindi you may as or any other language?? Hindi well Nepal people don't like India due to the big brother factor and well English is world wide with tons of information readily available
