http://www.pranavdhakal.com/ Dear Sajha friends, Pranav Dhakal is our wonderful friend and it is on his behalf we are making this appeal. It is unfortunate that we could not introduce a person so cheerful, optimistic and compassionate in a better circumstance. Throughout these many years of friendship he has endlessly won our hearts with his witty "shayaris", empathetic spirit, and has personally impressed me with his enduring optimism. His motivation to help fellow Nepalese is unequaled. There are many of us whose memories with Pranav began at the airport, where he volunteered to pick up new Nepali students with that big smile on his face. Recently, Pranav was admitted to Overland Park Hospital in Kansas City to get treated for a rare infection. As of now, his condition is very CRITICAL. The infection has spread throughout his body including his heart, lungs, liver and kidneys. His brain has suffered a condition called "sinus thrombosis". Doctors say that it is difficult to cure this condition when only a minimal dose of antibiotics can be administered to him in order to prevent further damage to his kidneys. We felt helpless to see a person as enthusiastic and as motivated as Pranav lying on the hospital bed fighting for his life. This is an appeal on his behalf to pray for him and for his family during this difficult time. This is also an appeal to every one of you to DONATE whatever amount you can to help him cover the medical expenses but more importantly to bring his family members here to care for him. We thank you in advance for all your prayers and support. On behalf of Pranav Dhakal, ~ Friends of Pranav _________________________________________________________ Pranav's Associations: St. Xavier's School - 1996 batch (Kathmandu) Wichita State University (Wichita) Butler County Community College (Wichita) Park University (Kansas City) Pranav was also a resident of Boston, MA. .............................................. DONATIONS CAN BE SENT TO: Amar Bajracharya 13920 W 143rd Ct, Olathe, KS 66062 .............................................. PayPal will be setup SOON. http://www.pranavdhakal.com/ * I apologize for the misleading subject of this thread.

We are working on the PayPal setup process. We needed to create a new account, hence the delay. But it should be up in a day or two. If you are a business interested to donate money for Pranav Dhakal, we will be happy to place your logo/advertisement on our sponsors page. For more info please write to: help_pranav@yahoo.com with your contact information.

Thank you so much for a brief intro. I am glad that we have this kind of fellow Nepali around. It is unfortunate that his health has let him down, but I am sure our fellow Nepali will not, especially those whom he had helped. Pranav Dhakal, though I am not in US, but I am totally touched by unselfish act towards our fellow Nepalese. You have my utomost respect !!! I wish and pray for your speedy recovery and will pledge my donation once paypal account is setup. Bijulee, thank you so much for bringing this to our attention and appeal to my dear fellow sajha members to set aside a small some of money for our unfortunate fellow Nepali who is sick and needs financial assistance Regards, Rai ( Newcastle Upon Tyne,UK)

Bijulee and others, could you update us on Pranav's condition? Many of us from his batch which is actually 97' are very concerned about him and since we're not the most united of the batches we've been hearing conflicted update from random people. One of my friends called me today and told me that Pranav was already all right while some other acquaintance had exactly the opposite to say. And is there any estimate on how much the medical treatment would cost and what are the immediate needs? There are many other concerned organizations we're trying to reach. Please update us! If anyone is working in this could you send me an email.

Osy_chill and all others concerned, Pranav is still in a very CRITICAL condition and no he is NOT alright. The Overland Park Hospital has decided to release Pranav's medical condition only to Jaya Mainali (due to too many ppl calling and visiting). I update the website everyday with information I get directly from Jaya. So keep checking the website for the latest updates on Pranav's health condition and more. As for the costs, we do not know yet. We (Pranav's closest friends) have decided to worry about that at a later time, but we are accepting donations now. What we know is that Pranav is getting the best possible care and that makes us happy. I will be at the hospital on Friday and I will try and get a rough estimate of his treatment costs (which is hard to tell because we don't know how long his condition is going to persist) As for his immediate needs, we need to get his family members here ASAP. All the paperwork has been sent to the embassy but I have no other updates on that. KEEP CHECKING THE WEBSITE for accurate and latest updates on Pranav. Thank you for correcting me on his batch info. ~Bijulee

Don't you get it bro? To draw maximum attention. It is OK, guess we all were expecting something sensational. Now let's just help this dude. However the author did apologize. Let us not set this thread off track with unnecessary criticism. Someone's life is at stake. I don't know this dude but me and gf feel sorry for him. Waiting for paypal account to become active.

Nischals: Thank you. I just got your email. Perhaps we could place your PayPal on our site too since ours is taking so darn long and besides I would be happy to see funds collected at one place rather than scattered. Sajha User: I apologize again for the misleading title. But my SOLE purpose is to reach each and every sajha visitor so that they can help Pranav, and it is evident that this title has served its purpose, so far. If you are curious about why I chose this specific title, please feel free to email me and I will be glad to offer you an explanation. Also, there is a "Help Pranav" link on the top right corner of Sajha homepage already, I am sure you noticed it. I appreciate your concern. I urge everyone to keep this thread going and on focus for the sake of my dear friend Pranav. Thank you all. ~Bijulee..

ladyinred: Yes we do. Pranav is still a student and what most students have/can afford is the health insurance through the university. This sort of insurance is usually very limited as to what it covers. The care and the services Pranav is getting is far beyond what the insurance covers. Hence our effort to collect donations from kind and generous friends. ~Bijulee..
