i dunno about how the party went but i want to share something that utterly disappointed me........
i was callled to play the background in the opening and i sincerely practiced for that...i even sacrificed one of my important classes and a couple of days at my work......
but yesterday they just skipped our part and the excuse was that there was no time for it.....i know they started it in nepali time..but what the heck about the time we wasted 4 them.....
it's pitiful, nepalese people can be irresponsible to this limit.......

Just a Comment

I personally think the kids in Boston Nepalese community should take the center stage and perform because this way they will learn the culture. Unfortunately the kids who should be learning are sitting in the back watching and the oldie bahadur and bahurnis shake their asses on the center stage. The community here in Boston is full of vugalrity look at the chepos in skimpy outfits anyway its their life why even bother. The NY party pictures look so sweet and decent. It looks like a descent party with more kids and families around not a buch of attention deficit disorders shaking their asses. I think most of the psycopaths have decended here to Boston.

An eye opner.................

I was just looking at the event listing in sajha and all of them are Tamu lhochaar. The event picture is boston tamu.

Sajha should change it's name to Bringing Together Tamu Communities~!!

In jest!

no bidwan
they never apolozised actually they were happy to get rid of that event.........
this is not the only time ...nepalese communities have never been respecting artists.....in deusi, we made a lot of money but that went to the fund....artists have been persevering for nothing .............i have seen nepali artists getting paid in other cities......forget about that ..at least they must have VIP passes for the artists......

tregor----wht they did is so messed up and they didnt even apologize!!!!!
i totally agree with kiwigal. most of the nepali functions i go to i always see the kids sitting in the back really really bored. i have always wondered why indians chinese and other nationalities their kids always speak their native language fluently. but u hardly ever meet a nepali kid who grew up in US who speaks nepali (there r some though). whts up with that. actually i have seen many nepali parents encourage their kids to speak english instead of nepali. i guess they r like embrassed abt being nepali or something i dunno.

Mr. Treqor, your posting on Lhochaar party caught my attention. You have expressed your utter disappointment in not being able to perform for what you had prepared for. I am sorry to hear that.
As one of the main organizers of that program, i disagree with you that we were irresponsible and were even happy to get rid of that particular item. It is not true. You may take it the way you want to but overriding any item ideally planned to make our Cultural Program beautiful is not an easy thing to swallow. Every program we organize, we make mistakes and we keep learning from them. This year's glitches and flaws have taught us a whole lot too. That is why, you can ask any of our usual audience and they will tell you how our program has improved over the years.
We were trying to do our best. Due to the time and technical difficulties the musicians themselves gave up the idea of putting up the piece. Were you on a bathroom break or something while this was going on?? We respect artists and have always been giving them credits they deserve. I know art doesn't come easy and everybody can't put up a good show. It is not just about performing, it is about putting everything together in the best way we can so that those who come to the party have a grreat time. On the other hand, our objective is to preserve our culture and carry on with many of our traditions modifying according to time and place. Having 500+ Nepalese under the same roof in the US is not a joke. We are really happy and thank everyone who come to our shows and support us. There are many people who thank us for bringing so many people together the way we do. It gives us immense joy and satisfaction.
If i recall correctly, you are the dude who hadn't decided which song to sing even till the last week. You are the dude, who was put in our program listing till the very last four days. You are the same dude whom i personally went out of my way to have the band play for your song but you couldn't make up for the practice time. As a result what happened??? we decided to erase your item. Even then we encouraged you to play in the future programs. Hey dude, atleast try to see how far we went to involve you in our event. Ya, you sing pretty good but, remember singing and organizing programs is two different ball games. There are many good musicians and singers around here. Many want to perform in the program we organize. Why? Because we organize pretty well and we give good respect and priority to artists. Believe me, many of these guys are really good. We wish to involve more and more people with more variety everytime we work towards a program. It is not easy. But we always try.
If pouring out how you feel in this thread quenches your thirst and makes you feel better, what can i say? Atleast, you felt better.Good for you. My advice to you is, if you want to contribute towards the solution instead of lurking behind some username and whimpering; you should talk to the concerned people as a man (I don't wish to name you in this thread because you don't have the balls to write your name yourself). Hey, i know we are not perfect and i know we make mistakes all the time. I know we have so much to improve on. I am ready to listen to ideas, follow good lead, even learn to learn, help people the best way we can. If you want to talk to me, my phone no. is 617-764-1645.I will be more than happy to talk. Maybe we can learn something from each other.
About the historic Deusi/Bhailo in Boston this year. I believe, it was the first one ever done around here. GBNC EXE. were very happy to hear that so many people wanted the group to come to their homes and houses for deusi. Such responses encourage us to continue the trend. You should be glad that there are people who give respect to your talent by involving you in the deusi group. I don't think anybody dragged you off your feet or forced you to be in the group. You could always say NO.
If you had financial inclinations, then you should have talked to the group or the president. Maybe something could be worked out.
Ya, dough.... that the fund went to GBNC. Atleast we were working together to bring surplus to GBNC budget for the first time after many years of "uncanny" financial doldrums. I don't know about everything, but one thing i know very well is that, this group of GBNC EXEC. are doing their best to bring daylight to the GBNC fund. If you have questions on this matter why not talk to them. Maybe your wise ideas could bring better results.
You know what!!! You could always LEAD.. FOLLOW.... OR GET OUT OF THE WAY.

Suggestions, comments and constructive criticism are always welcome. We have been very open minded and considerate about taking suggestions and have been trying harder each year to make every event as diverse as possible. It was a huge turn out - 500+ and when you put together a program of that magnitude, there is definately some loose ends. We truly appreciate your participation. Thank you all for coming. At the same time - we validate and acknowledge your comments/concerns but poeple should not get down to being outright rude and obnoxious. If you think, we on purpose turned you down, then please accept our apologizes but if you were there, you definately knew what the problem was. There was some technical difficulty and as a result of that, we had to short change our program. As simple as that.
Someone in this thread talked about invloving youngsters in our cultural programs and our main objective for last four years has been trying to get people of different age group to participate in our cultural programs. We have been trying to make our cultural programs as diverse as possible representing various ethnic groups, various types of dances and various age groups. And we have been very fortunate that we have so many people wanting to perform and participate in programs. So, before you put some demeaning comments on the web, you should do your homework first or do you just need some attention. And, ADD or Attention Deficit Disorder is a "term" used is a define a condition resulting in symptoms of inability to maintain attention, impulsive behaviors and/or motor restlessness and NOT attention seekers - if thats what you are talking about. Did you by any chance use the "term" incorrectly or are you just shooting in the dark?? Here is a piece of advice for you - use more informed comments next time. Secondly, I think you are violating PERSONAL SPACE- everyone has the right to wear whatever they want. Find something better to do - get a life!

I think, when you speak for an organization, you should use your real name like Sundar Gurung did. Just a thought since it will enhance your points.

I appreciate you guys trying so hard for the sake of Nepalese community.

There will be always comments and criticisms regardless of success of the program. But it sounded like you guys did a great job. Keep it up.

I wanted to come so much but it was on the night just before the working day after a vacation of 10 days. Next time.

I think such talents should get togather and set up a different program.

Well said sundar dai...LEAD, FOLLOW, OR GET OUT OF THE WAY.

After every program there is only criticism, at the beginning it was true because the programs were terrible. But recently, and especially the Tamu programs have been very successful in attendance as well as audience satisfaction.

But you always have people criticizing, and i am all for criticism, but constructive criticism not just plain bitching...these people, they couldn't even organize their underwear drawer, let alone a program.
So you put that guy in his place, well said!

Visitor27,

What about ADD? I was just curious as to who mentioned ADD, which ticked you off that you went on to educate us on what it means?

And about violating personal space by saying what one feels, if theres a restriction on what one can say and not say who gives you a right to say anything for that matter? Are you above the law or something.
I dont know what transpired between Mr. tregor and the lhochhar party, but if I see these kids wearing clothes that I consider cheap, then I am gonna say it. Before giving me advice mate, tell your friends and family to wear a thick piece of skin too when they wear that item of cheapness, so that they can salvage what people like us have to say. Because, if I see it, I am saying. Or, may be its just you who needs to wear a thick piece of skin!

Please do a bit of reading yourself first as ADD does include attention seeker.....Shall I reccommed some books for you to read.

Also your defense seems extremely obnoxious and rude to me. Therefore I commend you to PRACTICE YOURSELF TO WRITE POLITELY AND THEN PREACH TO OTHER TO DO THAT.

I also think you if at all involved in the event organization, then you simple are not doing a good job at including more children in the cultral program. The ratio of kids performance over the past 5 years sits extremely low and you have proved it yourslef in the defense you have given which is simply lame.

I have nothing else to say. I would just be wasting my time by doing that. It is just a shame that people like you are running the GBNC organization. I had met positive contributors to GBNC so far I think you are the first one I am disppointed with. Its better that you remain hidden behind the nick the person you are to avoid more same.

VERY DISSAPOINTED!!!!!!!!!!!!
