Patrick Leahy, an obscure senator, claimed that Monarchy could be at risk in Nepal. And this lidicurous statement is bound to send most of the Nepalese rolling on the floor with laughter, including yours truly. As far as i am concerned, voice of a nepai is much more important than a whatever Leahy (he is simply insignificant). What does he know about Nepal's condition anyway? Sitting on ivory towers and thinking about Nepal? Shame shame puppy shame all the donkeys know his name! When a Nepali says that Nepal is not ready for democracy, i trust that for the following reasons: ***Bal Bahadyr KC manages to climb two storyes at midnight to rape a woman and still show every sign of winning and election. PUnishment is out of question. *** Most of the MPs manage to import Land Rovers at discounted price and sell it to businessmen and get away with it *** Most of the male MPs claim medical expenses for child delivery. *** Prominent leaders, including Madhav Nepal, managing to upgrade their bicycle to Land ROver and their two-room hut to mansions. The point is: forget the maths; forget the statistics. Nepal is NOT ready for democracy yet. p.s. Senator Leahy, tell us another joke, plesase!!!!! For the time being, we are happy with our King.

Dude, no matter how much credibility he may have, if he looses sight of the simplest of facts - like that of Nepal- his credibility is translated into zero.

Thats what I mean, shriya. If, lets say Albert Einstein comes to us and starts saying that 2 plus 2 is 18, we should argue instead of accepting meekly. Simple as that. If senator Leahy, or Senator TOm or Dick or Mohammed starts talking nonsense, we should give them a piece of our mind than just approving blindly.Thats my point.

"...Nepal is not ready for democracy, i trust that..." Guess this reveals something. It reinforces the hypothesis around this forum that even people like you do essentially believe that there's no democracy in Nepal now. That in itself justifies Mr. Leahy's calls for democracy in Nepal.

Problem arises when kids start thinking that democracy is the solution to all problems. Probelm arises when children start believing that democracy is sacrosanct. Its a shame that they do not understand that demoracy needs certain framework to function properly.

Good point bhoontu Thats the basic problem in Nepal and everywhere else. What the average mind do not understand is when there is a threat of Maoists- who want to rule by the barrel of guns- pushing for democracy is a futile game.

Echoes, you sound so much like Nepe. Are you the same by any chance? I figured that you are very enthusiastic about Ashu's thread and go to any length just to prove that he is wrong - though he may not be necessarily wrong. So againb Echoes, are you Nepe? Please answer that question.

it is quite funny when people assume democracy is just a work. "democracy needs a certain framework" people, here's something for you - democracy is not just a word. "that certain framework" is PART AND PARCEL of democracy. and when i ask for democracy i ask for the whole package. to begin with, let's do the following * get rid of bullying mandales who've raped at gunpoint * get rid of the guy who gets a fleet of jaguar stretch limos as soon as he becomes king * get rid of the guy who makes the nepali people pay for their sister-in-law's health expenses incurred in foreign hospitals yeah, let's just stop the math. there's no need for that.

prabably you would not find it as funny when you discover that: ***Bal Bahadyr KC manages to climb two storyes at midnight to rape a woman and still show every sign of winning and election. *** Bijaya Gachhadar roams freely with impunity though he is charged with with murder these are just a few cases for you kind information.

Bhoonte dai, you are wrong. Democracy is an evolving process. Hyperactive kings only put a pause in this process [Where has it not?]. It is not possible to create a functioning "framework" and then simply plug-democracy in [Where has this happened?]. You need to put democracy in place and let it play out. Sure it takes time...and an absolute monarch only serves to delay the process. ShriyaK-jee, Haha... I wish I were, but no I'm not Nepe. In fact, I don't know the gentleman at all. But you do bring up an interesting point. People like you seem to underestimate and dismiss the opposition outright. In this case, you simply implied that Nepe and I were the same person, therefore, there was no additional dissent. Incidentally, this happens to be the single most important reason why all monarchs fail... As for my participation in threads by Ashu-jee, that's just a coincidence. I like to post whenever I have time and find something that I think is worth posting...

Haha...Now this is really funny indeed. Particularly the dogmatism and denial on the part of ShriyaK. I can only say WTF. (Note, Nepe-jee would perhaps never use such a phrase!!!)

Why Leahy Matters? A senator from Vermont what does he know?Perhaps senatorsand ministers of this cyberdome namedसाझा.com know better or maybe few vigilantes exhibiting their blind worship towards a modern day incarnation of deity(a draconioan despot) and few sexless neutrals unconsciously taking sides with the monarch know better.Darfur was imminent how about genocide in Rwanda when a charismatic William Jefferson Clinton was seated with cigar on the west wing.Atleast,we have a down to earth knowledgable senator raising valid issues about whats wrong with ruthless monarch of ours validating "RNA's to kill their countrymen/women"while intoxicated. Call me a renegade now! But remember Leahys are products of Jeffersonian enlightenmentnot feudalist visionaries! Now tell Cheneys to screw themselves! Before he drills your backyard(if you know what I mean)
