Last week I was in Austin, TX for a Fraud related seminar sponsered by Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. Forensic accounting in itself is not a new field but this semnar was more than forensic accounting. I am glad that my three and half day were well spent knowing this relatively newer (around 15 years) Organization, "Certified Fraud Examiner" designation and the emerging field of Fraud examination. dream05, CPA and CFA are totally different. First of all you will have to choose the field, you wanna be in. You gotta decide Accounting V. Finance. One thing I can say for sure is if you do not like accounting, you cannot stick in public accoutning. It involves lotta work.

peace out

Hmmmm with straight accounting, all you to do is sit and calculate with a bunch of business courses, it's boring...phewwwwwww But Accounting is useful. I, personally, didn't enjoy taking accounting, but it has proven to be very useful in my life.

I think you need to have atleast 30 credit hours of accounting to be eligible to take CPA test ( Not sure). But you must have atleast 150 credit hours of corse works. ( this I am sure).

Airight

peace out

Prajesh ji,
Tapai samaye bhanda agadi aipugne chief guest ni ta lau ja. :)

My questions for now shall be very general ones. More specific ones, if and when it may arise shall be directed towards your inbox.

Just to be clearer on the issue, as a Nepali, a non-resident: what are the scopes as a practicing CPA?
--------------------------

Dreamz05, galti hajar hunchan. . . hoss harayeko belaa hahaha.;)

On the more serious note, do you have enough credit hours to qualify for CPA exam, since you mentioned you have finance background? 150 credit hours is a must to qualify for the test.
----------------------------

Highfly bro, yeah I heard the same thing. Public accounting is a pain in the butt re. Moreover one has to satisfy minimum hours required every 2 to 3 years working in different specified section to keep his/her license.

What exactly are the requirements for CFA?

------------------------------------
Lady,
A person having accounting degree, say like MBA, need not just work in hardcore accounting field. Accounting encompasses most of the field in business section, which also includes finance; generally speaking.

IndisGuise:)

Thst the sad part ni... i've a finance background so I don't qualify CPA test.. I've heard that (correct me if I m wrong) its not necessry to have a degree accounting in to take the test but of course you have to have so many credits hrs n accounting courses. Well for instance, if i take some additional courses to fulfill the credit hrs n all, will i qualify for the test?

I think having a degree is not an essential criterion to be eligible for CPA, as long as you have 150 credit hours.

So, my understanding is, if you satisfy the credit hours, you can take a shot.

P.S: Are they not changing some rules sometime soon if are using your undergrad credit hours for CPA eligibility? You might want to check on that.
