Put the install CD in the tray, boot from the CD, format the HD that has the OS.

whats your previous OS? if you have that CD, then pop in the cd, and instal, and restart, if it is easy. if it is previous version of windows, just pop in the cd, and let it take over. it will install some files, restart your computer, and when it asks, press any key to boot from cd, then hit a key, then let it roll. make sure you format your harddrive before you install your other OS. the OS you are trying to put might ask if you want to format or not!

thees--- have you tried that yourself? an active OS probably won't allow formatting of its own primary partition... you probably need to boot from a different source before you can format the so called "c:" drive. but in any case, do back up your data onto a CD (or gmail!) before formatting.

yeah... your Win98 is prolly gone now. You won't be able to just go back to it by uninstalling XP. unless red says otherwise.

If you don't have 98 cd, and want to remove XP hoping to get back to 98, then goodluck, it is impossible :) first off, you can't just format your harddrive while your OS is installed in them. Its like your butt wiping the poo poo by itself, which can't be done. you need a different source, your hand. correct? just like that, your OS won't remove itself from the drive. and if you expect to get back to 98, then one thing is for sure, you will have to go back in time. without CD, removing XP simply won't take you to your previous OS

redstone--couldn't you come up with a less explicit analogy? yuck! like there's an expression in nepali that goes something like "jun haangaa ma basera tei haangaa kaatne". but concept is the same.

kutie---if you have to pick b/w Win98 and XP, XP may be the way to go. It's certainly cuter, for one.
