A fascinating, if strangely perverse (to this member of the bourgeoisie anyway) discussion of how the international cousins of Nepali Maoists think about certain words and phrases: Some juicy samples: "The reason Black heterosexual wimmin cannot find Black men for stable monogamous relations is prison and differential health care that kills off Black men before wimmin and white men." "[Maoists ]introduced the world to the term "gender aristocracy" to include those people who may not even be bourgeoisie but who benefit from the current patriarchal setup in particular." "Tupac Shakur's music is mostly correct and talking about all wimmin as whores is something Marx and Engels did in more refined language than we should expect to hear in a song." Enjoy the rest at: -http://www.etext.org/Politics/MIM/wim/cong/languagetheory2004.html (Found out through November 2004 issue of Harper's Magazine.) oohi ashu

Sense, I guess we still have confusions about "Ashu". I summarize some of his characteristics based on his writings on Sajha. I may be wrong but this is exactly what I observed. Ashu: 1. does not like Nepali Language; 2. feels as a "third grader" for those who do not understand his English; 3. designates illiterate backward Nepalese fellows if they use Nepali Language; 4. expects nobody should understand his English so that he can write both wrong and right; 5. is negative thinker and enjoys to point only demerits but wants to ignore the good things; 6. may be a good analyzer, but it is of little meaning if he can not communicate with the mass in a commonly understandable languages; 7. wants to show his superiority; 8. feels that none are better than himself; 9. claims that he is popular and everybody from Journalists to governmental officers, from Nepalese to Harvard Professors etc. should know him. But unfortunately, I do not know him more than a user in Sajha. These are just partial lists. I also go with Sense to request him to write in a easily understandable English Language, if not in Nepali. ----- OK

OK wrote: "But unfortunately, I do not know him more than a user in Sajha." OK, thank you for your compliments, and for amusing us. FYI, I've been bashed so much and so often on Sajha since 2000 that all these attacks mean NOTHING to me and NOTHING to those who know me well. :-) Why? They are all false. Meantime, reasonable people would consider these points. OK does NOT know me personally. Nor does he know me professionally. YET he feels justified in making a PUBLIC list of "what he knows" (provably falsely) about me. This is NOT surprising. This is HOW most people, Nepalis in particular (as per my limited experience), make sweeping judgements about other people. OK is an engineer. I thought engineers -- at least, in public -- were/are persuaded by what they can prove with data and evidence and NOT by what they sense and feel and are prejudiced against. Maybe OK is an exceptional engineer. I do have an explanation for OK's carpet-bombing tactics. Sometime ago, on Sajha, I posted a counter-post to his uncritically syrupy bhajan of Khagendra Sangraula. Along certain sections of Nepali "democrats", it's a cardinal sin to criticize Sangraula. I committed that sin. Now, I am paying for it. But guess what? LIke ALL previous false attacks against me, these too will pass. Meantime, OK, I wish you well -- and I have NOTHING negative to say about you because I don't want to judge you by your Sajha postings. After all, my participation on Sajha is for a simple reason: To stir up the pot once in a while and make this site a lively, happening place. oohi ashu

Ass-u-toss, yeah, who cares... it means nothing. If you have been bashed so much in this sajha.. probably you are in the wrong place. Think about that.

PD, Thank you for your suggestion. I have thought about it. I have decided that I can take the heat. So, I'll stay in the kitchen -- stirring the pot, as it were. Thank you, again, for your kind concern. Have a good day, Sir. oohi ashu

Ashu - That's the spirit bro! You do behave like a mad man at times but you are so much a part of the fabric of Sajha - this place would not be as much fun without your shenanigans, raves, rants and well thought out viewpoints. Prem bro ma sanga na risau hai - Ashu seemed like he needed a hug :)

Captain Haddock, Thank you for your words. Ke garne? The same stuff can be "rants" to some people, when it's "well thought out viewpoints" to others. And that's life. *** PD, Glad to note the change in your mood for the positive. oohi ashu

sorry to stir things up ..I think its a nice opportunity to increase my vocabulary by asking Ashu, the implication and meanings of these words.... 1.perverse 2.bourgeoisie 3.patriarchal "The reason Black heterosexual wimmin cannot find Black men for stable monogamous relations is prison and differential health care that kills off Black men before wimmin and white men." 1. Who/ what is wimmin? 2. What has this in connection with the whole maoist language theory? 3. What is ur point? would u kindly help me, Sir.

Hello Ok , I dont wan to run into conclusions, personally I agree on all of ur obsevations on Ashu but I guess this point is over exagerrated. 1. does not like Nepali Language; Because he started a thread 'Nepali typing in 1hr' and lot of people were inspired to do it. Small mind talk about people, today I became one.

I love you too Moneyminded, but not enough to breathe your name in everyone of my posts. Sense, surely, you do have the rare "common" factor in your name not to make judgement calls based on cyber interactions only. And, your sincere desire to learn those above painstakingly listed words could perhaps be appeased with the help of a dictionary? OK ji, you do impress us with your investigative, journalistic profile on Ashu, the man. Your almost accurate (mind the "almost") confident and "unconfused" summary of the man suggests that you have met him in person...many times and have come away with justified reasons for such vicious dislike for him. If so, my sympathy. If not, my sympathy, again!

It is fun reading posts in this forum. The colorful characters and the interactions, sometimes hot or cold, are what makes the read more interesting. Have to give credits to writers like Ok, Sitara, Ashu for coming up good pieces of writeups. So, please continue your writings/bashings, no matter what others say. We are who we are. Culinary delicacies u mention sound mouthewatering. Would like to taste it, moneyminded. Keep up the good work. ->just another rambler

Sitara , let me have the opportunity to show my gratitude for showing me the way towards dictionary, I wish I hadnt thought abt it until u told me but not to let u down ,I did. The problem of implications and true meanings always makes things messed up...now I am sure u know how tones effect the meaning, I guess same thing can be implied on words....Sorry to say or may be my own 'incompetence' I found out the meanings to be pointing differently than what is being implied. Since I have no objections on people using those words but I feel that I do have the right to question if something is out of knowledge ,dont I?

You're welcome Sense ji and ofcourse my pleasure! :) That was exactly how I found the meaning of your first listed 1. 2. 3.-words. And, further inspired by your desire to increase vocabulary, I even ventured into the thesaurus. I'll bet, if you took your desire seriously you might come away with a richer vocabulary than Ashu. As for your second listed 1.2.3. you are absolutely entitled to ask questions, ofcourse. However, the shade and tone of your questions may not justify those rights. Just an observation, hajur. Forgive me, if I have offended your sensibilities.

Is there more to it than meets the eye, or are some people just nasty? I see nothing in Ashu?s post that warrants personal attack against him. Stop being so petty and mean. I, for one, certainly love reading his posts because he talks a lot of sense most of the time. Sajha wouldn?t be the same without him.
