What was billed as a definitive 5-party Andolan (which was a subject of a number of Sajha discussions) at Ratna Park has petered out completely. ***** In Nepal and among Nepali societies, there often is a lot of enthusiasm and support to START something, but not much enthusiasm, support and persistence to carry such work to success ONCE it gets started. Then again, especially in failures, lessons can be learnt. And so, my questions to the netas: a) What went wrong with the five-party Andolan that it appears to be in such a disarray? b) What didn't work to make the Andolan a success on your own collective terms? c) How and why did agreement among yourselves break down? d) How would you avoid such mistakes in future so that you achieve the goals you set out for? e) What do you tell your 1000s of supporters WHEN they ask you why the Andolan lost steam? Would you blame your own leadership for failing to think things through or simply blame others? f) What's your next move? oohi ashu

I am not a neta but just a foul mouthed Sajhaty who has been away from Nepal for a long time.I was not gonna respond to the postings but yours really got my attention so here it is, my thoughts,my answers a) What went wrong with the five-party Andolan that it appears to be in such a disarray? Power Hunger. Everyone in the party wants power so they are fighting amongst themselves. b) What didn't work to make the Andolan a success on your own collective terms? Selfishness. d) How would you avoid such mistakes in future so that you achieve the goals you set out for? Strong determination and UNITY. e) What do you tell your 1000s of supporters WHEN they ask you why the Andolan lost steam? Would you blame your own leadership for failing to think things through or simply blame others? The truth. One can't make a difference so I would have to say 50-50(usually).Half of the mistakes is done by you and half is done by others. f) What's your next move? Patriotism and unity. Looks like Nepalese got none. And yes including myself.

Ashu must be running out of subjects to crank on the forum to pose a rhetorical question like this. Itýs insulting to the intelligence. We all have our own theories on why the system didnýt work. Ask anyone and you will get earful of answers on this subject. Why donýt do the community a service and tell us your views, inside stories, new discoveries that you have made rather than asking mundame questions when you already know the answers.

VB, I don't know the answers. Hence, the questions. Gunda, I don't know the answers; hence I am seeking the answers NOT from you but from the netas (who have been sent copies of the questions), I watched the Andolan from the sidelines, and could not really summon up the passion to dive right in -- especially when it was clear to me the Andolan was a conveniently self-serving prop for the netas. I have no regrets. ************ I am just curious to understand what those who had led the Andolan then (i.e. the netas) or those who had defended the Andolan -- using lofty principles -- then now say to INTERPRET the way the Andolan ended up disintegrating into, well, pieces. Where are the political pundits -- on Sajha and elsewhere -- whose brilliantly-written predictions appear to have come to nought? As for me, I remain untrained in understanding politics. oohi ashu

Thanks #$%^*& for your good wishes, I am a little surprised to see this reference to the GAA elections here on Sajha, but pleasant surprises are always welcome!! Yes, I need every bit of support from each one of you (those who are in KTM) to win the presidency of GAA tomorrow Saturday. Come and bring your classmates to vote at GAA at 4 pm. They can each pay Rs. 240 to renew their membership, and then they'll be able to vote. Whatever happens, I'll update you guys tomorrow night. Campaigning has been fun and energizing so far; and I am hoping for a for a positive result. oohi ashu

a) What went wrong with the five-party Andolan that it appears to be in such a disarray? We were just trying to psych everyone out. But the bandas and the protests will return, baby, you can bet on it. That is one thing we do well and take pride in. As a matter of fact, we intend to make it a viable career choice for the youthz of Nepal. b) What didn't work to make the Andolan a success on your own collective terms? c) How and why did agreements among yourselves break down? Well, to get us some tagat, we decided to down some chiso, chiso Carlsbergs before the big event in the morning. About the fourth beer, there was a collective argument about whether sekuwa was a better snack than chicken chili. The discussions got heated and before you know it, a big fight broke out. The Andolan was the last thing on our mindz, as you can undertstand. The rest is hiztory. d) How would you avoid such mistakes in the future so that you achieve the goals you set out for? Definitely no drinking in the morning or arguing about sekuwas. I guess we also have no choice but to invite some brilliant Harvard graduate with flawless moral character, political knowhow and enlightened world view to advize and perhaps to even rescue us from our neanderthal wayz. Any takers? e) What do you tell your 1000s of supporters WHEN they ask you why the Andolan lost steam? Would you blame your own leadership for failing to think things through or simply blame others? You are assuming that we CARE, or that our supporterz DARE ask such useless questions. But IF they do, we have CERTAIN techniques to make sure they will NOT repeat the mistake. And blame our leaderz? Are you kidding me?! What planet do you live in, dude? Of course, we blame otherz like the king, the Maoists, the heat, and especially those obese Nepalis in the US. f) What's your next move? ha, good try! If we revealed our next move, you'd surely throw a moneky wrench into our plans, so you could then puff yourself up and re-post your smug, indignant, selfrighteous six questions here. Sorry, dude. For now, let's just say that we might move one of the pawnz two squares to the front. The NetaZ "We ALWAYZ visit Sajha to learn politics from the goruz ... sorry, guruz here, hic"

Very funny, netaZneta, very funny!! I like your sense of humor. Keep it up. ******** In the US (the country I know best after Nepal), when one thing goes wrong, there is often this big hue and cry to FIND OUT just why and how that thing went wrong . . . from the reverberations of 9/11 inquiries to why Bush had to do an about-turn on steel tariffs to the Iraqi prison scandals and so forth. Sure, SOME of those post-mortems could amount to nothing but hot air. But there's no denying that many such post-mortems do play a serious civic role in giving the public information about what happened, why and what's and who's to be blamed so that the issue get a closure and the society can move forward. In Nepal, we are so weak or impatient that we CANNOT even ask, for instance: a) When 100s of Army jawaans die in an ambush, what went wrong (or what appears to go CONSISTENTLY wrong) with the Army's strategy? b) When -- even after the experience of 12 years -- political parties raised UNREALISTIC hopes by way of that recent Andolan ONLY to abort it at the end, who are we to trust at the end of the day? Surely, in the absence of authoritative explanations, the public gets tired of being jerked around, and that should COUNT for something for the parties, no? ***** c) I have realized that there are so many things that go wrong i Nepal, but there is no mechanism -- formal or informal -- to ask: "Wait a moment. What the hell happened, and why, and what could be done to avoid it in future?" In the absence of such questions and an effort to seek answers, we continue to cling on to LOFTY rhetoric that is of no use while consistently failing to avoid future mistakes by holding no one responsible for anything . . . That's my point. oohi ashu

Hats off to Mr. Ashu for having a sense of humor! Not that you need it, but you allright by my books, bro. I admire your writing, but do go EZ on the ego trips, tho. And whazz with this darshanka dude? He needs to come out of the closet real quick. First he falls in love in Pushkar Shah and "dogs" him like a stalker and now it is Ashu. It's okay to be gay, bro, just come right out and say you love Ashu; we all already recognize your new gay obsession. But just because Ashu does not reciprocate your affection, no need to "dog" him like you did your ex-obsession Pushkar. It must be hard getting spurned all the time, huh? Hell hath no fury like a dude spurned! Oh, and there are many fishes in the ocean, dude.

Venting you anger here? ha ha. Did you notice that your anger burns you first. And you are not sure if your anger really did any harm to your target. My dear Netazneta... I told you, it's the most scariest things to do... that is face your own mind, what's beneath it.

Yes, Netazneta... why you wrote all those stuff about GAY. Looks lke you are gtting hard times from those gays surrounding you. You know that you can file a sexual harrassment complaint against them. Or else you can plugg in all the holes in your body. Then no fear of gays. Kaso?

Netazneta.. why are you acting like sycophant of Ashu? I know your english is as good as those on the street. But for others, I am writing this: sycophant = A person who tries to please someone in order to gain a personal advantage. So Ashu, someone is brown-nosing you!!! Enjoy your EGO.

Thanks to Ashu for bringing very authentic and thought provoking issue to sajha yet once again. However, it is clear that some of the sajaties do no have the capacity to comprehend, nor do they have the ability or the desire to address the intelligible and purposeful question put forth by Ashu in an upholding manner, and that's a sad fact.

Hi everybody! I normally do not post but I go through the forum. One thing I find it so sad is that instead of discussing the matter with logics people tend try to show off. As far as politcal parties are concerned, everbody knows they are bunch of thieves. So, what do you expect from them?

Thank you Badmas for your note. I have found out that one way to deal with these unwaranted and false attacks is to accept that they do take place, not get troubled by them and them take them all in stride by marching ahead anyway, without skipping a beat. As an optimist, I tend to believe that there are many, many good people on Sajha (and I have met a number of them personally) who can quietly figure out for themselves what is what and make up their mind accordingly. oohi ashu
