I am planning to appear the Civil Engineering PE exam soon. I called Pennyslvania board and they say "even after having US masters and EIT you need do credential evaluation of your undergrad from CGFNS.

NY state has residency requirement and an extra year than other states.
California is the best place for these requirements, they dont care if you have a US degree and also 1 yr experience is enough, but the Siesmic and survey exam is a pain.

Could you guys share your idea how it works in other states? I guess texas may be easy, they had no issue when appearing EIT?

@ dimehot
Your information is quite confusing/misleading.
You are true about 12 yrs of education and experience for NY state but bachelors degree counts as 8 yrs of education and will need 4 yrs of experience (used to be 5 yrs).
 See this table http://www.op.nysed.gov/prof/pels/peexpchart.pdf

I found this link which gives requirements of all states.
http://www.ppi2pass.com/ppi/PPIInfo_pg_allboards.html

@granite: It is very difficult to show experience from Nepal. I would rather wait some more.

@Nepal_ko_lato: Did u give PE from Maryland? Please share some ideas.

@ harke hawaldar, Thanks for the information. I have found that they also consider higher academic than bachelor level  as work experience but only as an partial fulfilment for the required  work experience (http://www.op.nysed.gov/prof/pels/article145.htm) . But no idea how many yrs' work exp they consider for  masters degree. I had emailed to them for inquiry. According to them, these fother muckers need at least 2 yrs work experience in US.

If you found anything new, please share.

NY gives 6 years of credit for B.E. degree from Nepal as opposed to 8 years.
It gives 1 years of credit for Master degree from US university.
Hence total credit: 7 years for education
Required credit: 12 years
Work experience required: 5 years (2 years of exp. shud be using US codes n standars hence shud be in US) to be eligible to give PE

Unlike some of the states where the applicant shud go thru educational credential evaluation thur CGFNS or othere agency, NY does by itself. After they receive your transcripts they do the credential evaluation and give you 6 yrs of credit; Nepalese university not being a ABET credited University. Master's degree recieves no more than 1 yr of credit.

harke haldar - I did not take exam in MD. But one of my friend did. He was having hard time getting his application approved (experience of Nepal and other experience requirements) in Virginia but his application was approved in Maryland and he got PE.
