Hello Folks,
I want to go back to Nepal and start some business. I am thinking of opening a Restaurant in Kathmandu and Pokhara (possibly). What kind of Restaurant should i open ? If you guys have any idea please share with me. I am tired of living in this country now. I want to do something back home, and by the way how much money should i need ? Approximately how much do we need to open a decent restaurant in Kathmandu ? Please share.
Your ideas will be highly appreciated.

Now i am feeling like people who return to Nepal from US do not contribute much of a significance. All want to do business of restaurant, hotel, or some thing like that.
Nepal seriously lacks skilled people.
Nepal needs people who can design and manufacture products. Production is the main backbone of a country's economic development.

The best is MoMo-Restaurant.
Grahak naholaa bhanne chintaa linu naparne, thorai lagani - dherai aamdaani, sajilo, bharpardo byabasaaye, chandaa aatanka baata kam prabhaav parne.
If you go for hi-fi restaurent, you would be paying large share of your profit to local dada and gangsters, clubs, etc etc. The net benefit is less.

Momo restaurant is a good idea.
There used to be a guy from boston who opened momo king couple of yrs back in ktm, it was a instant hit but faded away now
dont know the reason.
But momo is a good idea.

Lau baneshwor ko MOMOs and more restaurant pani ta usa returnee ko ho ni.
She was from elite nepali ruling class, did masters in sociology and returned nepal with momo restaurant idea.
Its running great and i think its a chain now adays.

It's one thing to fantasize about leaving a steady job. It's quite another to trade those hard-to-replace perks like paid vacations and corporate health insurance for a fledgling business that faces all kinds of challenges. We asked three entrepreneurs who left corporate America -- and haven't looked back -- how they did it. Here's what they learned.
Be Über-Analytical in Your Business Plan
Name: David Kostman, 46
Previous profession: Managing director, Lehman Brothers
Startup: Nanoosh, a chain of three organic hummus bars in Manhattan launched about three years ago.
Startup capital: "A few million dollars" for four restaurants (one of which closed -- the company is preparing to re-open it in another location), from personal savings and private investors.
Key challenge: Securing space. "It's known that most first-time restaurants fail," he says. "Even if you give landlords good financial guarantees, they don't want to lease the space."
What happened: Drawing on his experience in business operations, Kostman collaborated with two partners -- a friend with experience in the restaurant industry and a chef -- on a business plan for a chic but informal restaurant that would capitalize on Americans' increasing appetite for hummus. "It was the most analytical business plan ever conceived for a hummus restaurant," says Kostman, who delved into details from the best procedures for maintaining the consistency of the food to the most effective human resources policies for attracting and retaining staff in a high-turnover industry. He often had to meet with his partners at midnight because he was still working 12+ hour days and traveling every week at Lehman Brothers. (He left Lehman in 2008 before the company went belly up.)
While it took months of diligent research with brokers to get a lease for his first restaurant, it has become easier to secure new space now that he has a track record.A detailed business plan that outlined everything necessary to make the concept scalable was the key to getting the chain off to a strong start, says Kostman.
He used his own money to launch the first restaurant; when that succeeded he turned to outside investors in his professional network with confidence. Today his chain has sales in the $5 million to $10 million range

Nas your idea will be superb if you have a MBA degree.
A MBA guy from San Deigo university has been so succeful in running massage parlour.
Chuwit Kamolvisit was once the thai biggest massage parlor owner.
He graduated from the Faculty of Commerce and Accountancy at Thammasat University, and then earned a Master of Business Administration degree in San Diego, California. He is divorced from his American wife, who lives in the United States with their two children.
But for dance bar, i think one should opt for philipino or russian gl to attract indian toursit who prefer fair skin, and visit nepal is on the air.

Basically what you're telling me is that you came here, made some money, didn't take the time to LEARN how US operates (good and bad), gave up and now want to go back to nepal to open a restaurant....really a freaking restaurant.

@pepsi - duh i know restaurant make money. i guess what i'm saying....when people live in the US they are exposed to way more things than people in nepal. Take what you have been exposed to and make impactfull in nepal. take something unique to nepal. how is a restaurant unique...and if you have a restaurant, please tell your employess that they need to follow up with the customer every 10-15 min to see if they need anything, know the menu, wine list, energy level. last time i went to nepal. i went to a few what was suppose to be 5 star hotel/restaurant and the level of service was comparable to a Chinese carryout. And people say "well that is just how nepal is.....then don't complain that nepal is not getting any better"
