I was watching my cousin do some ritual with the dung and it was too much to take for me. My personal thinking is that excrement is excrement, no matter what animal. what do you guys think?
The biggest energy contribution from cows and bulls is their dung. India's cattle produce 800 million tons of manure every year. The Vedas explain that dung from cows is different from all other forms of excrement. Indian culture insists that if one comes in contact with the stool of any other animal, they must immediately take a bath. Even after passing stool oneself, bathing is necessary. But the cow's dung, far from being contaminating, instead possesses antiseptic qualities. This has been verified by modern science. Not only is it free from bacteria, but it also does a good job of killing them. Believe it or not, it is every bit as good an antiseptic as Lysol or Mr. Clean.

"Sacred" is a personal feeling. Is a stone really sacred? Why not , then, spit at statues of god and goddess? Is a paper really sacred? Why not then wipe your butt with Jesus or Buddha images?
To me, yes, cow is sacred, but I am not a big fan of her dung/urine. They are still good to make compost to use in our gardens, however.

Well if you had one of the traditional houses, which was wiped by cow dunk everyday then you would have heard that it keeps insects and even snakes away. Personally, I happen to believe in the reasoning, mostly (probably) because I have been hearing this since birth (reason for my biasness). It would be nice, if someone educated in the filed could t hrow some light.....
