i recently got the approved of I-140. now what is the next process for GC ? how long does it take after I -140 to get GC in your hand ?


Anyone has similar experiance ? thanks in advance for reply.

yes I received it only in 2 and a half month after the day of filing I-485. It doesn't take long for nepali citizen. labor approval is the most painful wait these days.

Mine is EB3. that is the problem. I would have to wait to file I-485.

Happy 2009, EB2 here.

I guess then for EB3 you have to wait as posted by Baire, but that is not too bad considering Sept 2 is current for EB3.

I doubt  Sept 2002 will be for Nepali.

if it is Sept 2002, I would have to wait another 8 years to file I-485 ? does not make sense.

I hope and believe Immigration Reform 2011 will be the answer for all the EB3s.

u should have filed both 1-140 and 1-485 at the same time .

betternepal, my lawyer said I could not file 1-140 and I-485 together.

Nursing goes into a different Quota !!! You should be able to apply I 485.. atleast get a travelling document and EAD !!!


Check with your lawyer !!  (change your lawyer if he said you cannot file I-485)

Thanks Baire, my lawyer said there is no special quota for nurses anymore and I would have to wait to file I-485 according to my priority date which might take years. I am totally confused and worried now. don't know what to do. At this point, I would not care wheather I get GC or not right away. I only want travelling documents and EAD. Sounds like it is not possible either. I may have to go back to school now to maintain my status.

what visa status are you in ?? If you I 140 approved you should have a valid visa right.. Looks like your lawyer messed up !!!
