So we have heard a lot about Buddha being born in Nepal and not India... but here is another question that I have tried to get answer a lot of times but have not been able to..
Is there a definite demarcation of border that says that Mt. Everest is in Nepal and not in China? All I have been able to come up so far is that it is between Sagarmatha zone in Nepal and Tibet in China...
So where does the mountain peak exactly lie?

The peak stands in Nepal. Tibet side is just like a desert coz of the west wind being blocked by Nepals' mountains. The part of the mountain thats in Tibet isnt much of it proportion. I have been to Tibet side of Mt. Everest and its not as pretty as of Nepal's.

... but why can I not find any place that says the peak is in Nepal anywhere? All I seem to find is the source saying it is between Nepal and China. Is the border officially demarcated?

There is an official demarcation in par with international norms. Peak belongs to both countries Nepal and China. From the peak, north side belongs to China and south side belongs to Nepal, and as herealone says south part is more majestic then the north part because of the snow and rain, North part is almost like stoney desert.

The first time we had the sagarmatha both side and we had some part of Tiben, in second treaty, we limited to our side only.

@veer gorkhali, I can stand on top of Mount K2 and shout a thousand times that it is in Nepal, but that is not going to make it true. I want to believe all those truth but the history as we have been taught in our school is at best a very one sided view (as with anywhere else). What I am after is truth!! If you call a truth seeker stupid, as a lot of people in history have been called, then please indulge yourself...

@____ the link you provided says that the peak is in fact in Nepal. "Until and
unless the expeditioners climbing from northern face step on to the
Nepalese side i.e. the highest part, they are not regarded as the
conqueror of Sagarmatha. To mount the victory flag on the summit and
even to put off the expeditioners’ bag and to take the pictures as the
conqueror, the mountaineers must have to stay into the Nepalese
frontier" and who is the B.N. Shrestha?

Very well said indeed , amricane. I like your soring rhetoric although I do not agree with what you have said. Maybe that discussion is for another day and time... For now I just want to know if there has been any formal treaty between Nepal and China concerning the Mt. Everest border and if so how it was delineated...
