Similar question, what derogatory word do Indians use for us?

Gorkha and Bahadur are two words I know....but I wonder whether they really are derogatory!

__________

I don't know about all Indians but Indians associated with Nepal/Nepali know very well that they are called dhotis.

I think they don't even care. Its just about perception like if Indians call us Gorkha, we get offended because it sounds like they are trying to stereotype all nepalese as security guards but if English call us Gurkhas, we take pride in it because it sounds as if they are calling us brave, honest and loyal.

It's not the word itself but the context that matters.  When Brits refer to us as Gurkhas, the context is that of bravery and loyalty.  When Indians refer to us as Gorkhas, the context is that of a servant.  Hence, totally different scenarios.

Doti is well known word in India and gandhi wore dhoti all most of his life time once his satyagraha started.  Even the word is unfamiliar but if you say it face to face,  your expression will let them know what exactly you trying to say. Expression counts more than the word itself.

Instead of dhoti, for them more derogatory word would be Khali Sisi or Kabadiya, I guess.

I don't think they care. I don't think they are as sensitive as us to go wild over silly issues like what we call them. I cannot imagine having a "Rajesh Hamal Kanda" in India like "Hritik Roshan Kanda" in Nepal. The fact is I am sick and tired of hatred shown to the Indians and poeple from Terai region by my fellow Nepalis. The fact is that we are much more dependent on India than they are on us. I have never heard of Nepal providing foreign aid to India. Let's learn to have respect for each other. We are all great in our own unique way. Jaya Nepal. Jaya Hind...
