A murder inquiry has been launched after the body of a young woman was found in undergrowth in Glasgow.

The woman, who has not been identified, was discovered at about 1300 BST on Saturday in Coventry Drive, Dennistoun.

It is thought the discovery is linked to a missing person investigation, involving a woman from Nepal.

Strathclyde
Police appealed for anyone with information, or who may have witnessed
suspicious activity in the area, to contact them.

Officers are carrying out extensive searches and door to door inquiries.

Cops find body in hunt for missing student

MURDER detectives sealed off the home of a missing student after finding a dead body yesterday.

They made the grim discovery five days after business management student Khusbu Shah, 21, was reported missing by her husband.

Police said yesterday the body had not been formally identified but
locals in Dennistoun, Glasgow, say officers believe it is Khusbu.

Detectives searched the flat the Nepalese national shared with her
husband and also sealed off a woodland area close to Alexandra Park.

Shocked neighbours say they saw officers remove the body from the
woodland area in a bag and that they also took a blue Mondeo car which
was parked outside the block of flats.

One said: "My daughter saw them take a body on a stretcher into the back of a black van. She said it was very small.

"It's horrible to think someone's been lying there dead. This is a
quiet area." Another said: "There has been a man in a car watching that
house for a week.

"We're talking 24-hour surveillance. We wondered what was going on."
Khusbu has lived in the UK for four years with her husband, also from
Nepal.

She studied accountancy at the city's Caledonian University.

Police are waiting for forensics to determine the cause of death.

DETECTIVES
were last night piecing together the last movements of a student found
murdered in bushes almost a week after she vanished.

Khusbu Shah was found in a wooded area of Dennistoun, Glasgow.

As
cops yesterday combed the scene, a cordon surrounded the block of flats
in the city’s east end where the married 21-year-old lived.

Officers also took away a blue Mondeo parked outside the property.

The business student, from Nepal, had been reported missing by her husband.

They had been living together in the UK for four years.

Police
last night refused to reveal how the woman, who studied at Glasgow
Caledonian University, had died or who had discovered her body on
Saturday.

A shocked neighbour said: “There has been a man in a car watching that house for a week.

“We’re talking 24-hour surveillance. We wondered what was going on.”

Detective
Superintendent Michael Orr, who is leading the murder investigation,
said: “The full circumstances of this woman’s death are still not
clear.”
