The unthinkable has happened: USA thru its ambassador Mrs Nancy Powell has decided to remove the TERRORIST TAG from Maoists! Had Mr Moriarty been ambassador at this juncture maybe this could not happen.
HOWEVER, SUCH IS LIFE and THIS IS THE BITTER TRUTH.
Read nepalnews of April 21, 2008:
US to remove Maoists from terror watch list
The United States is expected to remove CPN-Maoist from its terrorist Watch list with just a few ‘technicalities’ remaining for doing so, according to its representative in Kathmandu Ambassador Nancy J Powell.
The move, although not confirmed by the US government, comes at a time when the CPN-Maoist prepares to head the new government after its astounding victory in the Constituent Assembly elections held on April 10.
In a meeting with interim parliament speaker Subhash Nemwang in Singha Durbar Sunday, Ambassador Powell also said that the US would extend the same kind of assistance and support to the new government to be formed under the leadership of the Maoists as it had been providing to the previous governments.
During the meeting Ambassador Powell is learnt to have discussed the ongoing peace process, constitution drafting process and the latest political situation.
Even after coming to the peace process ending their decade-long insurgency two years ago and then becoming a part of the interim government the US had still placed the former rebels on its worldwide list of terrorist organisations. nepalnews.com ag Apr 21 08

Hey Kalki Kapil, do you think you are the world's best think tank? You are criticizing almost everything that relates to Nepali politics and also Maoists. Right after CA election, as the Maoist victory was sky rocketing you were saying something like this: " Thanks US, terrorist tag on Maoists is still ON". Now US decides to remove that TAG and you are saying US is wrong, unthinkable is happening. Wah wah bhai, what do you think is the best ? Whole world is wrong in your view hey? Do not make another mistake by giving me the badge of Maoists just because I'm against your view. I am the well wisher for change, it doesn't matter to me whoever rules Nepal. If the king could do better, I would not go against him. We've clearly seen the last 240-year of developments done by Kings in Nepal. Output is almost Nill.

Nepte & Gammaknife: here's some thought for you guys.
I HOPE YOU both CAN COMPREHEND PLAIN & SIMPLE ENGLISH? if not Then there's no point arguing!
In any case you both are writing that I shut up! HAVE YOU EVEN IMAGINED that a common innocent man/woman will NOT BE ABLE TO EXPRESS THEIR true feelings for INJUSTICE under COMMUNISTS-TERRORISTS REGIME?????????????????????????
1. What is the positive to write think about Nepal (at this point of time)?
2. Will Nepal under Maoists-terrorists (who have killed 15000+ people) be GOOD?
AND as regards your mentioning my sentence, I think you cannot understand simple English. WHAT IS THE CONTRADICTION you are mentioning about? The sentence: Thanks US, terrorist tag on Maoists is still ON". In this sentence US stands for USA! So don't you guys agree that it was THANK GOD at that time that Maoists were TERRORISTS in eyes of US (or USA)?
Unless, of course, you LOVE TERRORISTS, then GOD can only help you guys!
WHETHER YOU GUYS LIKE IT OR NOT Nepali Congress crooks are anyday better THAN THE TERRORISTS that WILL and ARE COMING to Power in NEPAL.
I HAVE NOTHING POSITIVE TO WRITE ABOUT NEPAL, maybe you GUYS can educate me!
I have never claimed myself of being a THINK-TANK!
I am just an ordinary guy WHO LOVES NEPAL 100% and I AM SADDENED WITH WHAT IS GOING ON AT THIS POINT OF TIME!

Kalki Kapil, No discuss about English language. I admit, it's our second language, no matter how good one writes, chances of misunderstanding still persist at some point. I don't think it's big deal regarding the subject matter here. The main point here is: You were grateful to US (America, Ok dude) while the Terrorist Tag on Maoists was not removed. You did not even think at that time that Maoists would soon become the elected government of Nepal and the US will change it's view on Maoists, e.g. removing the terrorist tag was necessary. You were advocating US did good thing by not removing the Terrorist Tag. Ahile ta US le pani dhulo chataidiyo ni Kalki Kapil lai ki kaso? While I don't want to save Maoists, I just want to share what I feel. Of course, death of so many people was not necessary and it is sad to put the high figure. Here are my observations: - We make mistake here by blaming Maoist 100% for the death of 1300 people in Nepal. The root cause partly lies somewhere else and also let's not forget that more than 70% were killed by the state. Whom to blame for taking up arms by Maoists? Innocent people are killed at least equally by the State and Maoists. - I see Maoists as the action party. Not like UML, Congress and RPP who forgot people and did not spend a single minute to transform Nepal's social structure. For this thing, Maoists are welcome despite their violent activities. - Violently or peacefully, Maoist have brought a lot of positive changes in Nepal, which UML and Congress never would do. - If we spit venom and Maoist and do nothing to improve us or our party (if associated), then for sure, one day Maoist will expand their party such that any other party will be close to non-existent. Kapil lai soch bichar garne fursad chhaina hola. J payo tei pyachcha bolera afno chitta bujhako chha. Thorai khayera dherai okelna khojeko Kalki le.
