hay guys ... i try to apply driver licence in texas ... i just move from nyc ...but problem is i show them photocopy of  my SS.... i lost ma original  one ....they took ma SS.. told me that is immigratin low i cant copy of ma own SS...they told me trooger(DPS) gonna  call me in week and they copy my nyc id too......are they gonna send me back to nepal..for this coz im illegal too ....but i work n i pay good tax too ....wat u think guys ...am i in big trouble ?

 

hey! I do not think it is a big issue. If you lost your SSN, you contact local SSN office and report your lost. You might want to submitt the copy of SSN that you have. They might ask you other proof, such as your valid I-20, I -94 and Passport. Bring all those with you when you go to SSN.

 Well, anyone inquire why you made copy of SSN, tell them that is just for you record. I do not think if there is any law that says you can not make copy of your SSN. In fact you have to submitt copy of SSN to many places..you know it right!

You shldnt have acted that smart.......you know once you are out of status , you can never have a copy of ur ssn back? unless the person behind the desk is your girl friend...

 just chill, i dont think your info will be processed but just to be on safe side, you may want to change ur address or place you live, since you are unofficially inviting them.

 But i have heard state like TX dont require SS for licence..... just chek it out....

u don't need SSN for licence in TX.

in your case,  its complicated now.  if you have given them your current add, you must think????

There are no law against photocopying your own SS card, however if you try to alter it and try to pass as a genuine one, then you have commited a crime. I hope that was not the case of yours. As far as DPS concerns, DPS only accept original SS card, now since you lost it, you may apply with SS Administration. You probably have to produce documents of your legality, and in your case it is not possible, I suppose. Normally DPS do not report these things to DHS, but just like Unknown Guy said, Be careful. If I would be you, I will try to find my original SS card.

Texas do not require a SS card (no.) for a driver license but you still have to prove your legal status, if you dont have two proofs of identity including SS card. Hope this answer to your question.

just get out of current address...and as far as other matter concern...in texas only immigration handle the case of departure..even the cops cannot ask somebody legal status....dps can charge u for the illegal attempt of making drivers license....coz only legal person are allowed to make drivers license...so think abt it...and if possible get out of current residing place...
