I am in canada and need attested copy of my academic certificates and univ. issued character certificates. However, my brother is saying that those crazy people over there are asking for the original certificates to attest. Does anyone know how to handle this stuff. Also, do you know where in KTM do they issue so called ' birth certificate' from?

1. It can be done either at your university or USEF, but you need original.

2. Birth Certificate can be taken at Municipal corporation!!(with reference from Ward/ VDC)

Is there anybody available to share their experience on if they'd sent their original certificates to Nepal in case like mine? I understand that one is expected to get stuffs attested from the institute that issued, rather than from lawyer or haakims from other offices.

You can get your certificates attested from your nearest Nepalese embassy. No need to send it to Nepal.

I don't know how it works in Canada but in US when never I am in need of attested copies of my documents, I would take my original documents to the International Students Office at my University and they would attest the copies. No need to send your original documents anywhere.... Hope this helps!!!

brother,

here is the deal, tell your parents to go to Jamal "TU office" or wherever the hell is moved to. tell them to issue your transcript again, (say the one you ve previously issued is lost). If they tell you its going to take a month or something, pay them couple thousands rupees, they will give you withing a couple days.  then attest the photocopies. But if you are talking about attested copies from registrar, you are going to need a sealed envelope certificates, which is even easy. Go to jamal, ask them for sealed copy of your transcript. you dont need to be there, your relatives, friends, or family can do that for you. if your parents go there with your nepali citizenship certificate, it is very easy, they just need some verification. or, remember, money can still buy anything in nepal.  Birth certificate, My parents paid 5,275 rupees, including tea party and cash, all together to the staffs in "lalitpur upa mahanagarpalika" and rupees 1500 to the woda karyalaya attendent,, and got my birth certificate within 4 days. Good luck man.

first of all they are not crazy people to ask for original when attesting. people who attest without original are crazy people.

secondly if you are attesting for PR applications, it is better to notarise and for transcripts that should be done from jamal.

if for university applications, again jamal or educational instituions should be okey.

for other proposes, ask some crazy people to do that in return for some thousand bucks without originals.

if you have friends and relatives as govt officers, they should be able to do.

Chyame,

They (in Buffalo) want you send ' transcripts of all degrees in university sealed envelopes' .

I said crazy coz i think the issuing institute TU should be able to attest any certificate issued by themself, eh?

i had a friend who applied for PR in buffalo
what he did was submitted original, photocopy, fee and an envelope to jamal
they attested it as a true copy of the original, sealed it with their stamp
since his file is in process now at buffalo i thought that worked for him.

i did the same thing from jamal for university application also- it was done in the same day

hope that helps

Chyamey,

I know that's the best thing to do but don't you agree that it is kind a risky too to send all your certificates back.

Actually, as you said when i was back home, i also did the same at jamal to apply for univ.
