Guys, i m graduating in December. I want my parents to be here in my graduation. Since i m not financially strong to cover the cost now, i want them to apply for Visa and come here after few months. Can they apply for visa with the graduation invitation letter from my college which i m sending in few days. When r they supposed to leave Nepal? My graduation is on Dec 21st. Since they would be coming afer my graduation will they have any difficulty at the port of entry regarding the purpose of visit? Plz sugggest me guys!!!

As far I know, after your parent get the visa there will not any difficulty at the immigration port to enter here in the US, but your parent should apply for the visa before your graduation day.
hurry up for sending invitation letter cause Dec 21 is so close from today.
all the best

I agree with NPL_US. They should apply before your graduation day because at the interview they can show your graduation letter as a proof for the reason of their visit. At the entry point, no matter when they arrive, they can simply say that they had come to visit their son studying here in this country.
Good Luck!

Christmas time is the most favorable time to get visas! so hurry up! once they obtain visa they can enter the US anytime within granted deadline for the visa.... No matter whether they come after or before ur graduation. Congratulation anugaman for your graduation!

Let me ask few more question here, just for further help.
What are the documents that we need to present in the interview? I mean, do we need plane tickets? Financial documents to support the visit? Certificate of Relationship? What else?
Thanks

What a dumbass question !!!! As long as you got Visa no one will ever ask you the purpose of your visit. Use your common sense dude !!!! Peace.

-Strong evidence that shows the purpose of the visit.
- Sufficent bank balance and property that shows tie to Nepal
-Invitation letter who is inviting
-Letter from Internation School and Department will be great
-Copies of I-20s passport and Visa
-Other documents as much as possible.
It may not be logical if you have Graduation in Dec and your parents come in March April- might have problem in Port of Entry unless your parents are able to show some other decent reason of visit.

Eutaketii, that’s not always the case. My friend’s brother got a multiple entry tourist visa. He came here and left in 2 months. Next time he wanted to come, the people at port of entry denied him to enter and cancelled the visa. They issued him the visa to attend the graduation ceremony, which he did in his first visit. They asked him the purpose for his second visit, which he probably could not explain and hence the denial and cancellation of visa. So, I don’t think it’s a dumb question the thread owner brought up

what should be the purpose of visit since they would be already passing my graduation date eventually. if they throw some questions how to defend that. is there any logical reasons to support that? coz the invitation letter is only the way to get visa but u cant show any other evidence to support ur visit since u already passed the commencement date.suggestions.

Punte may be correct. But I have seen the case that parents applied to attend graduation, got visa, but came here 6-7 months after they obtained visa. Case may be different with person person...so be wary!!
