I'm planning to visit Northern Mexico by driving. Does anybody have ideas or experience on how it'll be? Is US driver license valid over there? Are we allowed to take our vehicle inside Mexico? How easy is it to get visa in a Nepalese Passport? Can I get visa at the border ? And the final question, how safe is it ? Thanks in advance.

No experience. But from the point of view that the border being tighten, you micht have tough time..(as nepalese also look like mexicans).

Just green card is enough if you're driving there but this will change in 2009, you will need a passport. By flying, you need a passport.

Yes you can drive your own car, you will need proof of insurance and registration. But if you're renting a car then you need to let the place where you rented the car know that you're going to mexico. there will be a surcharge of $25-$50...

as for the border patrol, most of them will be an ass because of your skin color. but don't worry, if you have a legal status then they won't do shit to you...

I am an illegial , but I have valid Driving license, insurance, and SS#, do you think I can visit mexico city? Let me drive through mexico boarder and take flight from there to KTM, will boarder Pratroll agents give me hard time? Do US agent check my background or my credit record while leaving? will they ask me why am I leaving USA once I don't have any return probabilities?
