hi everyone..
i am student in US for 1 and half years.it was going well until i was admitted to hospital for 15 days. now i am good in health but not fully. i didn't realize about my bill, i thought all hospital and doctor charges are covered by my insurance but it's already 3months i am discharge from the hospital. i claim to my insurance also. in the insurance mail they had pay some of hospital bill but not whole.now bills are come in my name and written that my insurance didn't cover it. i don't have enough money to pay bill and my parents can't afford too.
i also heard that they will excuse if we didn't response their mail but they will destroy our credti history. i don't know much about it. i just heard from the frens and other. so please help me how do i make it so that i can't pay my bill and protect credit history.

Here is what you have to do:
1. Open your insurance agreements...read ..what is the % you have to pay.
2. Go to the hospital - talk to the person - in person billing dept. or the doctor who treated you....tell your situtation..Here is what they are going to do for you: reduce your bill, make it installment without destroying your credit history...Talk man Talk ..there is nothing wrong asking .Anyways they charge unneccesarily.
3.Tell them to bill the bill in such a way that the insurance pay more and there is less in your part.There are ways man..they know the trick and you read your insurace paper how can you minimize your pocket expense .What extra they have charged u which can be part of or can be made part of insurance.

Talk and see if it doesn't work.
one things i am 100% confident at least your payment would be made installment and certain % reduced.Do it before they send your bill to collecting agencies ..they will not be able to help u then

call them and find out if u can make installment payment other wise they will send it to collecting agency.

The insurance and hotel bills are tricky. I know a lot of people who trick them also. Some people goes to the County Hospital and tells them that I have no social security and no money...

well if the bill has come, there is no option but to pay but sometimes they send the same bill twice and asks you to pay twice also.. so check the bill properly before you pay.

About a year ago, I saw a program in either Dateline or 20/20. According to the program, hospital bills can be negotiated.

If someone does not pay the bill, then it goes to collection agency. If the collector is able to get money from you, a huge percent of it goes to the collection agency and very little goes to the hospital. So, hospitals do negotiate with you and reduce your bills.

I have heard instances where $10,000 bill has been reduced to $2000 and that also can be paid in intallments. So, talk to the billing department. Good luck.
