I heard that the accident victims in Alabama are recovering now.
According to the dean's office of Troy University, Due to lack of
insurence, they might send the girl back to nepal for physical theraphy.
They say that insurence doesn't cover for this. Anyhow we need to generate
fund for their treatment.

When I met one of the accident survivors Deepak Rathi, He said they were coming back to apartment after whole day work from Montgomery (appprox. 45miles away from their University) and on the way their car was hit by a big 18 wheeler truck. They were lifted by helicopter to the nearest hospital. There were four passengers onboard and one of them died after a week. Deepak is also discharged from the hospital. Nirmala Subedi (MBA student of TROY University) is still in the hospital (serious condition). Her jaw is broken into pieces Left hand is not moving yet and injury in the brain. She is still breathing through the tract (a pipe that is pierced through the neck for breathing). She can’t speak yet. Hospital says that her insurance is already over used by now and she still needs to stay in the hospital several weeks. Hospital couldn’t find any place for her physical therapy due to lack of insurance. We are asking the Nepalese community to support these victims by donating some money. This type of tragedy may happen to anyone. Please friends help her.

smrity 2005 did you try to get any rehab info from the hospitals around the town. They might know, if not I will definatly try to call American red cross and they might come up with something valuable info.

doesn't explain how the accident happend.. it only tells us how the victims are. How do we know if the accident happend by somebody else's fault or by drunk nepali teenagers who don't know how to follow traffic rules?

May be you can read something here about the accident. They were just going back to University after whole day work. The Driver was from Uzbekisthan.

We the Nepalese students at Troy would like to thanks for
all the possible help that has been provided to us by people
around USA and other parts of the world. Thank You so much
for helping the accident victims. We again need your help to
make Nirmala Subedi's life better. She is in need of
rehabilitation centre and proper medication. As per the the
update from the accident, Nirmala is much better than
before, she has been shifted to general ward.All other
students who were involved in accident and much better and
thankful to all of you who have prayed and helped in their
possible way. Nirmala brother Dhruva Raj Subedi from Nepal
is also here to take care of her sister.

Dhurba Raj Subedi together with NSA at Troy ask you all to
come forward and help us by finding a rehabilitation centre
that can take Nirmala without insurance. The health
insurance of Troy University only covers $10000 if you meet
a car accident and her hospital costs has already increased
that amount. Now, we all need is a rehabilitation centre for
Nirmala. God has saved her life and now given us an
opportunity to serve Nirmala Subedi and bring her back to
