Aright, first thing u do is get a card from ur bank, which ever bank u got a checkin acount opened from. If they ask for an annual fee, pay it, if they want to make it secured then do it, but once ur in the picture u are ready to rock and roll. U will have some credit history and then credit cards offer will fill ur mail box.

I think CapitalOne is a good credit card to start with. Depending on your credit score, the card might not have much credit on the card; however, I've found they are kinda generous giving the credit cards to the people with bad or no credit history. I also think you better choose the card without annual fee. Why pay annual pay when you can get the card without annual fee?
