Will United States or Zones (or whatever we call it) of Nepal be better equiped to address the problems of multi lingual and multi ethnic Nepal? What I mean is similar to the system of governance in the US and in India.

Only time will tell. I know one thing we should have one languge to communicate for people from different region and that langue should be English and maybe we will be able to develop then.

Why can't nepali be national language ? After all most of the population by now know nepali very well.To teach them english is as difficult as trying to teach them democracy. You know very well how people are dividing nepal by ethnicity and caste.I don't even know what kind of future nepal has.I want to be optimistic but i don't see that coming.Divide divide and more divide.. well i certainly think that mao yadav would love to have hindi has national language

I know what you are trying to say Imi bro, but face it Nepal is already divided among different ethnic groups and we will never unite and that I will guarentee. As far as Nepali goes many ethnic groups have already rejected that and it may create more division along the ethnic line so its better to introduce a language that is not part of our country. I mean english would be good, it may take a while but I rather not have people be forced to learn language that is not beneficial to them. Also english is universal language so you can use it anywhere around the world. We have to be realistic Nepali will not cut it anymore.

Well I guess language has evolved a bit more than just being a medium of communication and for expressing thoughts and ideas. If it were so simple then I guess we wouldn't have had so many "language revolutions" in Nepal within the last 10 years. These days everyone wants to be heard and they want to be heard in their own language. Well I guess while drafting the new consitution, Nepal could learn more from Switzerland and India than from USA. Both India and Switzerland are multi ethnic societies but India has it own share of problems which we do not want in future.
