Hello San, Recent episode of "Yahoo-China" conflict has made some of us think "How safe are sajha community users?". Specially one's that are raising voice against autocratic royal regime, which has clearly showed its interest in curbing freedom of speech and information. And has already punished and is willing to punish who raise their voice against them and their chamchas. Since sajha server is hosted outside Nepalese government judicial boundry, I do not think Sajha is obliged to present usage information to Nepalese government if asked. But could you please provide us some information on what condition sajha will provide information to legal authorities and which authority (I mean US or Nepal)? Who decides on this is it only Admin which is you or is their a board that owns and runs sajha? I am bit confuse with this message in disclaimer: SAJHA.COM does not control the information delivered in the SAJHA FORUMS, and it has no obligation to monitor the postings. However, SAJHA.COM reserves the right at all times to disclose any information as necessary to satisfy any applicable law, regulation, legal process or governmental request, or to edit, refuse to post or to remove or deny access to any information or materials, in whole or in part, for any reason whatsoever, in SAJHA.COM's sole discretion.

I think there is a loop in disclaimer where sajha can turn in information willingly if they want to. So who will take such decision a single person or comitee board?

You know what, I wont give a crap even if someone turns in the user info about me to any govt in the world. If they really need it I'll give it to them myself. I'm rather fearful about money making scam artists instead because I can come for a face to face any govt in the world that might be hostile towards me but it's hard and many times it's almost impossible to pursue the ever elusive scam artists. I have given a good fight against US Department of Justice in court few years ago (right after 9/11) . Is there any govt. left that is more powerful than the US govt to fight against ?

The very valid question you raised makes me wonder how safe is San himself? An autocratic government, as you put it, could get hold of San, who's in Nepal right now.

Khaobadi Ji, Actually in this regard US might be easier government to fight, because they respect law at least to some extent and you have right to attorney and can fight them legally (Unless you commited crime serious enought to be in gizmo). But it will be hard to wage same fight with Nepalese, Chinese or Burmese or similar government because they do not respect law and forget about right to attorney. Its my way or no way.

the fact is, San is already passing info about the sajha posters to other sajhaposters (who have donated to sajha) by emails. I have read such things in some other threads that it happened. So there is a favortism in sajhaland too. And the sajha posters who received such info from San is one of the donaters such as Ashu, Shree5 etc.!!! And no matter how shit they write, they are never banned from sajha coz they have donated to sajha !!!!!!!!

That disclaimer doesn't talk about giving info to individuals but to the govts and like ones. But sajha.com belongs to San, and I guess it's his private property. At least his behavior shows so !!!! San, C'mon now it's time to ban me!!! Ha ha h.. he will do it guys, he will!!!

Well, guys, I think you're on your own... as far as I know, sajha.com runs off of San's generosity, and if he doesn't like you, then tough! :-p eheh. But although I am the least bit concerned about San misusing the information (having known him here for quite a few years!), I think it's a serious question. My personal position has been that I shouldn't say online (whether I'm using nicknames or real name) what I wouldn't want to be held accountable for in the real life. You may think that you are anonymous, but the fact of the matter is that you really aren't. No need to panic, but if the authorities want, there are many ways of tracking down the source of any online transaction... Almost anything and everything you do on the Internet is logged on at least a few computers... A nickname can only protect you from other nicknames! So always play it safe, here on Sajha.com or elsewhere. They can tell what you are doing. But what if King Gyanendra or Chairman Prachanda somehow gets hold of San's database? Well, if you are afraid of that, then you probably shouldn't have said what you said to make you feel vulnerable! There's no guarantee of the confidentiality of your identity. Again, only say/do what you are willing to say/do both in public and private, in whatever [nick]names and forms you present yourself... My two cents...
