Hi, I've been offered a job in a company in Santa Ana, CA. I checked the internet about the city and apparently, it is the biggest city in Orange County. Is it the same Orange County shown in the TV soap ' The OC'? I've only been once on a 2-week visit to NY and Fl before in the US so don't know anything at all about the living expenses (and anything else) in CA. I would be very grateful if anyone could give me a rough idea about the living expenses in that area.

Santa Ana is a very nice place. I do not live in Orange County but I think the rent is very expensive over there.

I don?t think it is a nice city. You will see nothing but bunch of illegal Mexican people all over the place. It is one of the worst cities in the OC.

I live in Los Angeles now..... formerly midwest. About Santa Ana.... it's supposed to be a heavily hispanic area. Just because you work in Santa Ana does not mean that you have to live there. There are other great places in OC that you can commute from. Irvine is close by but be ready to spend about $1000 and up for a decent one bedroom apartment per month. Of what I've heard of Santa Ana, it is not a great place to live in.

Don't know exactly about Santa Ana, but Southern California is definitely crowded with illegal mexicans... Full of crime, like what you see in Hollywood movies. I am here for almost a year, didn't like the place.

Most part of LA county or OC are the same. You can get a one bedroom Apartment for $800- $1000. (on the cheaper side)

quest, i lived in LA 20+ years. highfly is wrong. santa ana is smoggy, crowded, not anything like what you see on "The O.C." Probably the only upside, if you can call it that, is that it's very close to disneyland. not a nice place at all, i recollect. the trick in LA is to get as close to the beach as you can. try huntington beach, seal beach, costa mesa, garden grove, etc.

Thanks guys for the info. It's disappointed me quite a bit because I had literally expected it to be somewhat similar to 'The OC'.I haven't taken the job yet. As long as there are a few nepalese in the area to hang-out with at times, I should be ok.
