RCCC delivers verdict , Deuba, Singh get 2 years jail, Rs 45 million each fine (4:00 p.m.)

Delivering the verdict on the Melamchi case for alleged corruption against former premier and Nepali Congress (Democratic) president Sher Bahadur Deuba and former minister Prakash Man Singh, the Royal Commission for Corruption Control (RCCC) on Tuesday has awarded a jail sentence of two years and a fine of Rs 45 million each.

This one is the first ever bold virdict from RCCC. It seems that if all gulity people paid said amount Melamchi may alive despite of doner agencies' turnback.

RCCC could not prove its existance till yesterday though it had been given all power (power to investigate, execute, file and punish). This is the only case that they were examining for so long and from today they have nothing to do. As question been asked of its existance, I am sure it will face more critiques from local and pressure from abroad.

I am sure democratic system keep this commission alive to punish Tulsi Giri, Seanet Shrestha (spell not sure), Tanka Dhakal and more others as it only has guts to punish anyone it likes.............jai hos!!!

Deuba has given the Melamchi contract to the company of his influential party member @ inflated rates. Clear case of corruption.

Must be punished. But at the same time, this is a politically motivated case. If not the next target should be T Giri himself.
