Nepal in Turmoil
By Khagendra Thapa, Ph.D.
It is commendable that Nandu Raj Acharya had the courage to complain against the corrupt elected criminal Chiranjivi Wagle. Mr. Acharya is a brave Nepali who has stood up against a bunch of elected criminals who may kill him any time and any place. All honest hard working Nepali people should come out and protest against criminals such as Wagle, Khum Khadka, Jaya Gupta, Govinda Raj Joshi, Bijay Gachhedar, and hundreds of other elected criminals. Those people who are protesting in the streets often times with the elected criminals must realize that the real enemies of the people are the corrupt criminals and not the King.
The elected criminals were responsible for the destruction of democracy in Nepal. It is about time the silent majority comes out to the streets and forces the government to arrest Wagle and take away all his wealth and make him as poor as he was before the dawn of so called democracy. My friends who knew the grand thief (Wagle) and his notorious son tell me that they were very poor people who could not afford food and clothing prior to India imposed democracy. The grand thief and his son collected tremendous amount of wealth by resorting to shameless corruption. These elected thieves have no shame, no remorse, no morale, no ethics, and no humanity. Even a prostitute in the streets of Kathmandu has more moral and sense of responsibility than these thieves..
The question is how many people died in road accidents because Wagle and other thieves stole money set aside for road construction and repair? How many people died of diseases because the money set aside for building hospitals and buying medications was stolen buy criminals like Wagle? How many young Nepalese girls have become prostitutes in India because they could not get proper education and hence the job since the money set aside to build schools and hire teachers was stolen by Wagle and his elected criminal friends? How many young men had to leave the country and become manual labourers in India and other countries because they could not get the education because of thieves like Wagle? How much wealth is taken out of the country to educate the children of rich people in other countries because the money set aside to build colleges and schools within the country was stolen by Wagle and his friends and relatives? How much revenue is being lost because the money to build factories and other industries was stolen by grand thieves like Wagle?
The bottom line is that all these thieves have caused tremendous harm to the country and the people. Wagle and others must be charged for indirect murder and they must be either executed or at least locked up for life.
The court's verdict of 2 1/2 years jail and 27 million rupees fine is nothing compared to the Himalayan crime they have committed. Sher Bahadur Deuba would not arrest Wagle because Deuba himself is a thief. Where did Deuba get the money to build his palace in Budanilakantha? We all know that Deuba was a poor and destitute guy from a little hamlet in Dadeldhura. What is his source of income? Can he come out and tell us what is his source of income? Look at Girija and his daughter and her new palace. Where did she get the money to build her palace? There are so many thieves who have thrived after the political change in 1990. How many of these thieves have taken money away from the country and deposited in foreign banks? How much money does Wagle have just in Indian Banks? How much does he have stacked away in other countries?
If we want to introduce real democracy, the first step must be to capture all these criminals and take away their ill-gotten wealth. Since there are hardly any clean politicians left in the country, the responsibility to clean up lies with the King. If the King is unable to do so, then rest assured that the Maoists will come to power and do the cleaning up. Therefore, His Majesty the King must act and act quickly and decisively to punish the criminals. If he does so, the silent majority will whole heartedly support the King. Nepal is drowned in a vicious circle of corruption, crime, poverty, illiteracy, violence, and above all lack of guidance and leadership. We have become victims of poor governance, lack of accountability, and devoid of responsibility. Consequently, India and Bhutan have taken advantage of our pitiful condition. Our people are being murdered and raped everyday. We have lost our territory to India. India is also busy in catching fish in the troubled waters.
Hello, is there any body out there to help us! Our children are crying for help? Our parents are crying for help! Our sisters are being raped and they want help! Can you help us? Please help us before it is too late! Hello, because of irresponsible acts of Maoists, we cannot plant corps. All our able bodied people have either left the country or are fighting with or against Maoist. We have no food. We have no clothing. We have no access to health care. Our schools have closed. Our roads are destroyed. Our whole infrastructure was destroyed by Maoists. We are suffering from diseases. We are hungry. We are illiterate. Hello, is there anyone who can help us before we die of hunger and diseases. Over 23,000 of us have already committed suicide. Over 13,000 of us have been victims of ruthless war between the Maoists and Government. We have already past the stage of Bosnia and Sri Lanka.
