Couple of months ago, during Guru Purnima someone asked me who is the guru of your life. My answer was simple, “ My own life”. Why? Because the lessons it teaches me is the best and I never forget what I learn from it. This year had been very eventful for me in all aspects. I know it is not yet over and I am anxious to know what all is still coming my way. We all are different and have different difficulties. But again we are similar in a lot of ways. Our problems are different but the probability of solving it is pretty much the same. Nevertheless, I feel I can share few of the things that has worked/ not worked for me.

Silver Lining:- Every morning I wake up and remind myself that if it is not going to be the best day,I wont let it be the worse one either. This reminder helps me to deal with situations and people who are negative enough to pull me down. It is not that I dont sulk or feel bad but I bounce back pretty strongly. I always believed that it is not about “feeling sad or not” but about how long you want to stay sad. Dalai Lama once in his interview to BBC shared that, even after so many years of meditation, he feels angry. The only distinction now is he has the wisdom to handle that anger and not let it overcome his emotion of being positive.

Friends Forever :- You cannot choose your family but you can definitely choose who to be friends with. Almost all of us have the wisdom to know what is best for us. I am not asking anyone to be social climbers or look for the benefit out of people. I am merely asking you to be with someone who has to ability to make you a better person, from who you can learn. On the contrary, you can also be a mentor to your friend. But if in anyway,someone demeans you, betrays you or makes you feel worthless; trust me its time you move on from that friendship. Under no circumstances, anyone has the right to step on you. Not even your best friend.

The Secret:- I have always believed in the power of the Universe. If you wish for good things, the Universe will listen and conspire to make it happen and vice versa. So, why not always wish good things in life. Why not love yourself the post. For example, you are digit “1” and rest of the people are “0”. What will be the value of 1 if you add couple of 0s before it? It will still be 1. but if you add the same 0s behind that 1 the value will increase tremendously. All I am saying is loving and giving yourself the priority. It is not being selfish, it is taking care of yourself.

I never get tired of the safety instructions they show in the flights before take off.I love the part where they say, under low air pressure inside the aircraft the oxygen mask will come out automatically. Put in on your nose and start breathing and once comfortable help others. It is a metaphor for me. Until you are comfortable with something, don't go that extra mile for anyone else. You will get exhausted for nothing. Believe me! Loving yourself gives you the energy to love others that also happily.

Life is good and simple. Don't complicate it with unnecessary analysis. Enjoy life as it comes. Be grateful for small happiness. Forgive but don't forget the lesson. Your life is what you make of it, so drive it the way you want. Make good wishes, you never know which angel might be passing over you. Stay healthy, Mentally! Emotionally! Physically!

And my 10 cents..all the good things in life will probably feel bland and go un or underappreciated if there were not a fair share of tough times in life. Heat of summer really makes some rainy days wothwhile..a rough day under sun makes a cup of water more valuable than the most precious thing..
