Guys, Looks like there is not much of benefit from TPS for F1 visa status. Apparently looks like we will no more be in F1 status once we apply for TPS. But it's good thing for thousands other who do not have any other options. What after 18 months of TPS? I am trying to reach to my international office and see if they can be of any help. Guys do the same and reach out to them. While doing research, I found that, at times USCIS had change the rules for F1 visa to go to TPS and come back if TPS is expired. P.S. I am currently working in CPT but really don't want to loose my F1 status.

I don't think, you will loose F1 but the problem is if you apply EAD and use that EAD from TPS, then you will loose your F1. You need to mention to your F1 status. I am in a similar situation, I am in OPT, now extended by OPT via STEM but cannot work for non e-verified company.

http://www.southasia.com.au/2015/06/16/nepalese-granted-temporary-protection-status-in-us/ When the TPS is terminated by the US government, the immigration status of the concerned Nepalese nationals shall revert back to the status they held before the protection was granted. Not sure, if F1 apply TPS, granted, TPS ended, can they are reverted to F1.

maryoamericale, "I don't think, you will loose F1 but the problem is if you apply EAD and use that EAD from TPS, then you will loose your F1." _______If i can't apply Use EAD through TPS while maintining my F1 status, no point in applying TPS..this sucks..I will rather work in CPT and apply for H1 next year without being in TPS...only reason , I wanted to be in TPS is to see if I can maintain my status (f1) and reduce my class load and work more hrs(legally) so that I can fix/stand up my house back home..( My house got grounded in earthquake :( ).if not TPS is waste for F1..Irony is illegals will be benefited but not who came legally and working their ass off!!!

I am thinking to apply, without loosing F1 but if there is no H1 and other things come on the way, use TPS as last resort, but if you don't apply, then you will loose this additional privilege.

If you can apply TPS and still not apply EAD through it to maintain status , then I will do the same..is this doable?
