My OPT extension application got denied on the ground that I was unemployment for more than 90 days during my OPT period. During my OPT period, I volunteered (unpaid intern) for a small startup LLC company on the field relating to my area of study for 2 months. Do you guys know if I file for motion to open my petition and provide this information to USCIS? I originally didn't provide this information to USCIS because that start-up company then is no more in existence. Just so you know, I have a valid job relating to my area of study and my OPT expired last week. Has anyone had similar experience in the past? Any valuable suggestions will be very helpful. I'm not sure what my course of action should I take. I recently completed my MIS and I don't want to do PhD in near future. PLEASE HELP !!

Sorry to hear that.
When you worked for the start up company, did you report it to your international advisor ?

No, should I have? I have all the documentation/ offer letters from that start up company. Just that, that company is no more in existence. They couldn't compete in the market and had to shut down.

Yes, when working on OPT you should report it to your Intl'l advisor. That is how USCIS know you are working. It does not have to be paid. It can be self employed too but you have to report it. Check with your Intl on what they can do.
All the best.

Sorry to hear that. Yes you should have updated your employer to the ISO at your school.
Btw, after how many days it took you to receive the decision? I am asking the number of days in between you receive the confirmation of application from USCIS to the day you receive the rejection? My OPT is still not approved for about 50 days now.
Thanks and good luck
