So, I will be travelling to nepal on April 24 for a week. I graduate in may 15. My visa has already expired on nov '12..i have been to nepal 2 time since jan 2008.and will be completing my bachelors in 5.5 years..
what i wana know is i will have my visa interview on probably the april 29,30..and i have applied fot OPT..so its still in progress..Do you guys think that applying for an OPT will be against me in my visa interview..will the counsular think that as me not returning back..at the same time i will be at 15 days before my graduation so i think i have high possibilities of getting a VISA..what do you guys think..???share your ideas and experience.please

i don't think applying for the OPT might be a setback to get visa again. OPT is the normal process for the international student. However, i suggest you to make answer ready for what you wanted to do after you graduate- like go to graduate school or work or any possible reason.

Your going to Nepal is too close to your graduation. Normally people don't travel in such situation. Avoid it if it is possible. I don't mean to scare you but you might face hindrance in visa renewal.

I am in a similar situation. Just that I m graduating in December and not May. My visa expired and I am travelling to Nepal this April end for visa renewal. I had the same corcern when I first decided to graduate in May. But I changed my mind and decided to graduate in Dec but not just because of the visa issue. I had some other stuff as well. I think there is some kind of risk when you have only 15 days before you graduate. But if you can convince that you will return to the country, you should be fine. Just a guess though.
On the same page, I also heard that you can take the visa appointment from US? I just filled my DS160 and got the confirmation page. I I have someone on kathmandu to go to Nabil bank and pay for me. But how do I take the appointment after that from US?
Can anyone suggest?

If you find someone to take your recipt and the money to nabil bank, they will give you an interview date.If you want a specific date, you just call the bank and ask how long is the waiting time and then deposit the money likewise.Hope that helps
FYI i decided not to go
