KATHMANDU: Officiating Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Subash Niroula of Nepal Tourism Board has been honoured with the title of 'Tourism Man of the Year- 2012'.
Tourism Minister Posta Bahadur Bogati honoured NTB Officiating CEO with the title amidst a programme organised here on Tuesday, marking the eighth anniversary of Gantabya Nepal Publications.
On the occasion, Minister Bogati released a CD launched with a view to promoting tourism in the country.
Natural, cultural and archeological diversity in Nepal are the bases of tourism development, said the Tourism Minister adding that the government would formulate necessary laws, rules and plans for the utilization of such properties.
He stressed the need of carrying out in-depth study and research in the tourism sector.
Secretary at the Office of Prime Minister Leelamani Poudel said prolonged political instability in the country has negatively affected tourism business.
Similarly, Niroula said the NTB is moving ahead on the basis public and private cooperation to boost tourism business.
Publication's Chairman Shiba Adhikari, Education Secretary Kishor Thapa, former secretary of Nepal Mountaineering Association Ang Tsering Sherpa, former Chairman of Trekking Agents Association of Nepal Deepak Mahat accused the political parties of promoting the culture of strikes and shutdowns, causing negative impact on tourism business.
